EcoNouveau Now

It is rare when an event truly succeeds in breaking new territory in the realms of style, fashion, sustainability and culture, but EcoNouveau did all of that when it kicked of LA Fashon Week on October 13.

Created by Rob Ganger of Pollinator Media Group and Sarah Shewey of Pink Cloud Events, EcoNouveau integrated a culturally sophisticated approach to art, fashion and music with a deep green ethic.

As Granger states:

"The apparel industry significantly impacts all our
lives - for example, conventionally grown cotton uses
more insecticides than any other single crop. Organic
cotton appears to be only part of the solution while
other fibers like bamboo and hemp have their own
production impacts. It's quite a learning curve."

"Whether we collectively call it 'sustainable', 'green' or
'eco' fashion, it is very important for designers to
utilize recycled, repurposed, and organic materials
wherever possible in their entire product lines and
for we who purchase the apparel to become more
educated on the impact of our choices"

The event's co-producer, Sarah Shewey continues, "EcoNouveau aims to promote concepts like 'cradle to
cradle' and 'biomimicry' to industry and consumers,
and to showcase the modern 'green' life as stylish,
accessible and intelligent."

The event featured the Spring/Summer 08 collection of the most innovative eco-fashion designers in a non-traditional runway show crafted for an audience of 1,500 international press, buyers and eco-conscious celebrities and influencers.
