"an earth-rooted but imaginatively freewheelin' gang of gold prospectors"

Submitted by Bridget Algiere on Wed, 07/11/2007 - 17:10.

I've been browsing through the forum, only to find that it hasn't been active in weeks! Is it the dazzle of summer beckoning us away from our screens? Or perhaps it is easier to start conversations within the stories. Whatever the reason, I think we've reached a consensus about RS - We all want to be involved with growing the website because we are already involved with what the website is all about.

Many have expressed interest in local RS chapters to facilitate the action that is needed for the various ideas to come to fruition. I think that would be wonderful as well. What can we do to amp up the online community locally?

i think i want to get away from myspace

i like the news that comes thru here and i have very little to contribute regularly, but i read many of the articles and have a pretty high interest in putting a bit of my money out to things i see going on here. i check here often and read often. I don't really know what slowed down because i still see more news coming in and being posted. it will be quite awhile before i have seen it all here because i only spend a short while online checking everything at the surface and delving into whatever interests me on many sites at once. i frequent a deoxy.org 'chatter' which related me to here. good people. I'll be around here awhile =)

Thank you

Thank you so much for your input!

I noticed the slowing down on this here Forum! But yes the articles are relentlessly posted upon.

Since you mention deoxy.org, I will check it out - thanks in advance, I have not heard of deoxy before.

Is anyone else here like inhiarashi? Just browsing on quite a few sites?

What I would like to do is start local RS chapters, where we can get involved on a personal level and draw in more readers.

Is anyone else interested in that?

Local chapters?

Yes thats definitely the way forward. It's easy enough to dream utopia, but building it requires community. The surefire way to integrate the visionary insight is to apply it to the world of sticks and stones. I'm in Wales, UK. If anyone nearby is reading this, get in touch and lets see what we can conjure.

Remember, I'm a clumsy stumbling visionary fool like you, so don't be shy!

Rock on, Thom! Keep in touch on how that goes, fellow fool ;P

boston chapter

thom's statement above that building a utopia requires community is echoed heartfully in my own sentiments. encoded in the word itself, community, is exactly what's needed to bring the visions present here on RS into the awareness of the sleepers. then there's the huge benefit of having a (non-virtual) support system for fellow questing spirits and consciousness transformers. i'm new to reality sandwich, but i've been absorbing the content with gusto, marvelling all the while its...multidimensional intergration. i'm based in boston, and i have no money to offer efforts to establish a chapter here, but what i do have is the will to co-create a ring of heartful explorers of new ways of knowing, which is something i'd like to express in another thread. i've yet to completely fill out a personal profile here on reality sandwich, but anyone interested in what i'm about or contacting me for a boston revolution can visit my myspace (silly thing i know). http://www.myspace.com/nihilatron cheers, folks!

Portand, Oregon chapter

I am keen to spearhead a Portland, Oregon chapter. I'm ready to throw out a time and a location and just get a bunch of us together to talk Reality Sandwich and see what happens. My problem is, I don't know how to identify and reach local Reality Sandwich readers. Does anyone have ideas on that?

Yes, Groups!

As I do most mornings, I was just clicking through the site, checking comments, thinking about what features that are next in the cue to post -- and I realized that I haven't had a chance to check the forum for more than a month! And probably haven't posted a comment in that time either. So much is happening so fast here in the land of Reality Sandwich that keeping up with all the threads, let alone gathering the presence of mind to compose a meaningful comment, is a challenge.... That's a long winded preamble to the idea of local RS chapters. This is definitely something we want to do, and have already kinda started in New York and London -- though we simply didn't have the time to follow up properly, or put a simple system in place so other folks could take on the management of local groups.

One thing we have done -- in NY and London, for example -- is have "Reality Socials": a night at a bar or pizza joint, essentially. We set the date and place and post a note on the site inviting anyone in the area to show up. The turnout has been surprisingly good. We've done them when a critical mass of RS contributors is in town; Daniel or me or Jonathan have been able to make most of them. But we don't have to be there necessarily.

FYI: local RS groups are a big part of our future plans and we should be getting some kind of structure/system in place to help support them soon. There are many ways the website can play a key role in helping local groups come together and stay in touch.

Tied into the social networking?

I think this is something we could tie into the social networking aspect of this site, set to go live this summer (I hope that is still on!!!). Perhaps one piece of that is if you want to show where you live, you can, and it would be a good way for other Sandwich Eaters to connect with you for these Reality Socials. I would love to host one late July, early August in Minneapolis, staking out an art studio currently... Glad to see there was a bit more discussion on this :)

Gatherings of like minds.....

Hello from Ireland! Is there a space made on this site for postings of gatherings? I'm new to this online communication so i'm very aware of how much of a vacuum this can be on your time and energy..there are great topics on the menu to tantalise the open mind and serve up reminders of tastes and distant memories but its hard to beat the stillness around a flame....a bit of bushcraft and as someone already said here."the sticks and stones"..putting the energy into something and whatever is revealed will be seen if you are willing to see.I tune in here regularly, its one of my things to do!I'm contributing by telling other people about it.There is a strong network here in Ireland....we're not flag wavers.....which makes me wonder why i'm posting this!!!Keep up the good work...would love to see more from this side of the pond... dia libh go leir

SO far as I have seen, there has been one such gathering in London, one in Toronto and a few in New York City... As this site grows in members it will probably grow in it's ability to bring people together in person. I look forward to that time in the near future! It looks like the RS Socials in NYC have had fantastic turnout, but again that is where RS is based, and most likely has more readers within the city and surrounding areas than, say Minneapolis where I am, or wherever you are in Ireland. Looking forward to the future!!
