Drill, Baby, Drill?

ocean-200.jpg

The US House of Representatives, led by a Democratic majority, has passed a bill allowing some limited offshore drilling for oil.  But it appears to be a "lose-lose" endeavor.  Republicans are calling the bill a "hoax" because there are too many limitations to where drilling can actually occur, and environmentalists are assailing the bill because of the obvious ecological threat.  The Senate has yet to move on this, and President Bush is already threatening a veto unless limitations are removed.  Congress adjourns in less than a week on Sept 26th, and so a resolution is looking unlikely.

Adjourn?

Congress better not fucking adjourn ANY time soon. Any congressman who takes a god damned vacation before fixing this giant mess needs to resign immediately. They have a lot on their plate of CRUCIAL importance. More than this energy bill. But including this energy bill.

Just like schoolchildren,

Just like schoolchildren, letting their assignments fall to the wayside in anticipation of summer vacation. Who cares about work when you have play time to look forward to?

Except they seem to be forgetting that they're paid to make sure these issues are taken care of quickly and effectively. Remember when we used to have accountability from our public officials? Because I sure don't...

Great fishing expidition

"Let's find out the political environment in RS!"

Some might conclude this article is a fishing expidition. The ostensible purpose of which is:

"Let's see who we have to keep an eye on!"

Here we are, September 26th, and, evidently, the instincts of the People who read here might be interpreted as: why feed the beasty-boys?

And possibly this expalins: no comments.

While the day is not done, I'm predicting: no comments. My conclusion:

You need better bait.
