Dreaming the Future

The Arlington Institute (TAI), a futurist think tank headed by John L. Peterson, has recently issued another of its periodic alerts, indicating a potentially disruptive development in the world.
TAI Alert #15 (Impending Event Alert) calls attention to the possibility that some profound, destabilizing event may be on the horizon. This suggestion is derived from "four independent, explicit indications from far removed friends suggesting that something very substantial and disruptive is going to happen to the U.S. within the next 60 days or so."
The Arlington Institute is keenly interested in the precognitive potentials of the human collective unconscious to pick up signals about imminent traumatic events, which may be manifested in dreams or strong intutions. In the months prior to 9/11, the Alert explains, hundreds of people experienced eerily prescient dreams of people leaping from flaming buildings.
In an attempt to track this phenomenon of "aggregate intuition," TAI is in the process of launching a web portal called WHETHEReport where users can post their gut feelings and dreams, to be compiled and analyzed for patterns in the hopes of anticipating major future happenings.
As a preliminary experiment, TAI is asking for anyone who experiences any "significant suggestion" of a disruptive event occuring in the coming weeks to send it in an email with the following information:

Something "Very Substantial and Wonderful"?
Hi ST, I find this research fascinating and important in uncovering the intuitive wisdom of the collective unconscious, but I can't help wondering if the usual focus on something "very substantial and disruptive" plays right in to our fear culture mentality and by creating a collective focus on an event like this actually helps manifest something we may not want to experience. Perhaps they have alerts for "something very substantial and wonderful" to happen as well, but I kind of doubt it.
I'm mixed because part of me doesn't want to be naive and think that bad stuff doesn't happen and that we should use our intuitive capabilities to plan ahead or even avoid something disastrous. But another part of me wishes we had global alerts for a quick end to a civil war, or an unexpected pull-back of "development" in the Amazon, or a mass week of peace throughout the world. I already can hear the John Lennon music in the background, but if we're going to use psychic powers to imagine the future, I'd like it to be for a experience we'd actually like to have.
Hi Jonathan,
I am mixed as well. I must say that, over the past year and a half, my involvement with this website and the topics/ideas in its orbit have at times brought about in me despair and darkness. At many other times, I am filled with an excitement, an anticipation of miraculous, wonderful events. And sometimes these feelings are simultaneous.
In my mind, there's something mixed, paradoxical even, about the imminent future. It seems that trauma and chaos are unavoidable as it becomes more and more apparent that our overburdened social structures are beginning to short circuit and seize up.
Yet it seems to me highly plausible that against the swirling dark eddy of the yin, the yang will rise up and shine brightly – that perhaps we can expect devastation to beget illumination. This is at the seat of my intuitive flickers and shivers the past year. It's a crazy balance to strike, between giving into the gloom and letting go into God. Kind of a tug of war in my soul.
I'll admit I find myself drifting towards the dark side too often lately, but 2008 has been a hell of a trying year for me (as well as for many, many peope I know and have met recently. I'd be very curious to hear others thoughts on this trend.) Perhaps (and this is how it seems to me) we are collectively passing through some lower, darker energetic sweep right now, headed into a period of intense change and back into the light in the next sweep up. Calleman's reading of the Mayan calendar in ever-shortening periods of "Day" and "Night" follows this sense.
But at the concresence point, the singularity, wouldn't both exist at once? Hope and despair, dark and light -- this mixed feeling, or paradox, will then be forced into a wondrous new infinite paradigm.
That's where I'm at right now. So yes, it would be refreshing to see a positively-oriented experiment like this one from TAI. I need such an influence, personally, as I'm struggling to emerge from some rather bleak spiritual terrain as of late.
But from examples such as those mentioned in the TAI alert of prognostic dreamers intuiting 9/11, to the prophetic Alex Grey painting "Gaia" which presaged the same event back in 1989, it appears that this phenomenon bears serious consideration. Somehow we have to reconcile our belief in co-creationist reality with the concept that there may be events in the future that are reverberating their profound impact back to us in indelible psychic waves...

agreed.
The Great Worry
Compare with what I've heard in OtherKin communities (no relation) called, "The Great Worry."
A phenomenon where someone posts to a list, and says, "I'm fearful that something is going to happen."
And then someone else posts, "Yes, me too."
And then more people pile on.
"Something bad is going to happen."
Then an inquiry into what needs to be done, then some sort of ritual, and then "the great worry" subsides.
People line up the events of history, and figure out what happened, what was done to avert it from happening, and so on.
Now I think we're in an "imagination-poor" time (rather than "imagination-rich,") and I'm very grateful to the OtherKin, as a community, for their unique nature. At the same time, I think we don't need to imagine darkness into existence; There are plenty of things to work on that are very clearly worth working on.
If this study were done in the spirit of imagination, I'd ask people what wonderful thing was about to happen, within a couple weeks. :)

i guess i take all the cooperative-intention-yeilds-manifestation for granted-- I think the salient thing here is the specific "preconnaissance" thats coming out , I had actually conjured it myself. It seems to be our collective shadow energies (manifest in scary dudes in suits or bunkers or whatever) gasping for their stranglehold of fear-based control. Perhaps they are orchestrating another shockingly violent spectacle to scare the masses into running back to the republicans? Or maybe its not even intentional, the event's causes are actually being sown collectively by all of our fears. What i would hope we can do is reinforce our own vibrations of love, compassion and optimism in a serious meditation effort, and maybe even lightly focus these intentions toward the general meme of this psychic battle for power?
we shouldn't throw all of our hope toward actually stopping the event (allthough props on our ninja skills if we do...) but also if such an event does occur, continue to serenade the world with all the same irie vibes and whatnot, to neutralize the aversion-based reaction and use the painful occurance to examine and understand our dis-ease or shadow or blindness more clearly.
sorry, i hope that made sense, i'm limited by the medium here.

An interesting channel
A friend of mine, who's one on the more level-headed individuals I know, recently sent me the following text that he got from what he calls "an interesting channel":
You may find the following new age rubbish, or very accurate...
Physical and Psychological Signs if You’re Walking Your Spiritual Path
1. Body aches and pains, especially in the neck, shoulder and throughout the back. This is the result of intense changes at your DNA levels. This too shall pass.
2. Feeling of deep inner sadness for no apparent reason. You are releasing your past (this lifetime and others) and this causes the feeling of sadness. This too shall pass.
3. Crying for no apparent reason. Similar to 2 above. It's good and healthy to let the tears flow. It helps to release the old energy within. This too shall pass.
4. Sudden change in job or career. A very common symptom. As you change, things around you will change as well. Don't worry about finding the "perfect" job or career right now. This too shall pass. You're in transition and you may make several job changes before you settle into one that fits your passion.
5. Withdrawal from family relationships. You are connected to your biological family via old karma. When you get off the karmic cycle, the bonds of the old relationships are released. It will appear as though you are drifting away from your family and friends. This too shall pass. After a period of time, you may develop a new relationship with them if it is appropriate. However, the relationship will be based in the new energy without the karmic attachments.
6. Unusual sleep patterns. It's likely that you'll awaken many nights between 2:00 and 4:00 AM. There's a lot of work going on within you, and it often causes you to wake up for a "breather." Not to worry. If you can't go back to sleep, get up and do something rather than lay in bed and worry about humanly things. This too shall pass.
7. Intense dreams. These might include war and battle dreams, chase dreams or monster dreams. You are literally releasing the old energy within, and these energies of the past are often symbolized as wars, running to escape and boogiemen. This too shall pass.
8. Physical disorientation. At times you'll feel very ungrounded. You'll be "spatially challenged" with the feeling like you can't put two feet on the ground, or that you're walking between two worlds. As your consciousness transitions into the new energy, you body sometimes lags behind. This too shall pass.
9. Increased "self talk." You'll find yourself talking to your Self more often. You'll suddenly realize you've been chattering away with yourself for the past 30 minutes. There is a new level of communication taking place within your being, and you're experiencing the tip of the iceberg with the self talk. The conversations will increase, and they will become more fluid, more coherent and more insightful. You're not going crazy, you're moving into the new energy.
10. Feelings of loneliness, even when in the company of others. You may feel alone and removed from others. You may feel the desire to "flee" groups and crowds. You are walking a sacred and lonely path. As much as the feelings of loneliness cause you anxiety, it is difficult to relate to others at this time. The feelings of loneliness are also associated with the fact that your Guides have departed. They have been with you on all of your journeys in all of your lifetimes. It was time for them to back away so you could fill your space with your own divinity. This too shall pass. The void within will be filled with the love and energy of your own Christ consciousness.
11. Loss of passion. You may feel totally disimpassioned, with little or no desire to do anything. That's OK, and it's just part of the process. Take this time to "do no-thing." Don't fight yourself on this, because this too shall pass. It's similar to rebooting a computer. You need to shut down for a brief period of time in order to load the sophisticated new software, or in this case, the new Christ-seed energy.
12. A deep longing to go Home. This is perhaps the most difficult and challenging of any of the conditions. You may experience a deep and overwhelming desire to leave the planet and return to Home. This is not a "suicidal" feeling. It is not based in anger or frustration. You don't want to make a big deal of it or cause drama for yourself or other. There is a quiet part of you that wants to go Home. The root cause for this is quite simple. You have completed your karmic cycles. You have completed your contract for this lifetime. You are ready to begin a new lifetime while still in this physical body. During this transition process, you have an inner remembrance of what it is like to be on the other side. Are you ready to enlist for another tour of duty here on Earth? Are you ready to take on the challenges of moving into the New Energy? Yes, indeed you could go Home right now. But you've come this far, and after many, many lifetimes it would be a shame to leave before the end of the movie. Besides, Spirit needs you here to help others transition into the new energy. They will need a human guide, just like you, who has taken the journey from the old energy into the new. The path you're walking right now provides the experiences to enable you to become a Teacher of the New Divine Human. As lonely and dark as your journey can be at times, remember that you are never alone.

The Book of Life
I have had many dreams about the future. The farthest in the future I dreamed was 23,000 years:
There is a beautiful mother and child who are fantastic beings, no longer human, but with our torso-limbs-head alignment. Diagrams of skeletons show how we evolved into this form. Elements from the 1970s Life cereal commercial with Mikey are linked to this time, 23,000 years in the future.
In my universe there is a metaphysical Book of Life into which such things are written - so I think the next 60 days will be survived. If something extraordinarily traumatic happens, it will demand extraordinary healing.

wouldn't it be nice??
it's also the date of our canadian elections that were scheduled after this date was broadcasted on her site+spread on the internet
Very interesting October prediction.
I hope that is what the HalfPastHuman folks are picking up. That would be way more fun than the old humdrum - countries killing each other for "stuff" or "god" scenarios.

If the pattern of recent deviations from the expected norm in random number generators is any indication, something big is surely in the works. According to the Global Consciousness Project (link updated), the linked graph shows "the cumulative deviation of results from chance expectation (shown as the horizontal black line at 0 deviation). Truly random data would produce a jagged curve with no slope, wandering up and down around the horizontal. The dotted smooth curves show the 0.05 and 0.001 probability envelopes that help to define significant versus chance excursions. The jagged red line shows the accumulating excess of the empirically normalized Z-scores relative to expectation for the complete dataset of rigorously defined events. The overall result is highly significant. The odds against chance are about a million to one."
cause for con CERN?
proximity to what?
CERN? Heh.
But didn't they have to unplug CERN pretty soon after they first fired it up? Blew a fuse or something (or maybe the black hole trap sprung a leak). I think they're feverishly patching it up with duct tape as we speak.
As far as the (in?)authenticity of random numbers, you may be right. A lot of the technical aspects of what they are doing at GCP are way over my head, frankly.
Me too
All I know is that something is going on. I've been having "crisis" dreams nightly for the last month, longer and more vivid than anything I've dreamed before. I usually don't dream much, a by product of THC use. So this is not only atypical, but unprescedented.
