Evidence of Other Dimensions

Researchers at the CERN particle physics laboratory are using the Large Hadron Collider to simulate conditions of the the primordial Universe and possibly resolve some inconsistencies of current theoretical physics. Two LHC particle detector experiments are producing results much faster than expected: ATLAS observes highly massive particles and measures the broadest range of energy signals, and is designed to observe whole new physical processes created by the interaction of proton beams. The second particle detector experiment, CMS, is designed to detect supersymmetry, other dimensions, and the theoretical particle that explains where elements get their mass: the Higgs Boson.
Given the surprisingly fast pace of experimentation and high accuracy of data, research teams expect to release results (and possibly evidence of other dimensions) by the winter 2011 conferences. The LHC will be undergoing maintenance for the rest of the year, and then the ATLAS and CMS experiments will continue to collaborate and compete to release data about antimatter, dark matter, how quarks become protons and neutrons, and the properties of primordial plasma.

more of an expanded ability to measure mass
I had a hard time piecing it together just from CERN press releases, but yeah I'm not exactly talking about portals to prehistoric times.
"LHC experiments will be sensitive to new massive particles indicating the presence of extra dimensions up to masses of 2 TeV, where today’s reach is around 1 TeV."

Yes, I'm afraid it truly is necessary, here on this site.
If you say "scientists find evidence of other dimensions" here, -- you have to understand something about your audience: There are a substantial number of people here who would take that at face value.
So having some people who went to science & engineering schools (such as myself) to help people understand what's going on here -- it's a help.
As for the journals: You don't have to read the journals specifically, but it is valuable to know the state of the science. I have a basic understanding of the science, so I know what they are talking about when they are talking about additional dimensions. They aren't talking about cosmic portals to remote lands with lush jungle planets, beings of pure energy, and high drama on Atlantean seas.
What are they talking about?
