The recent advent of laws like the Patriot Act have threatened privacy and freedom of speech in America. A somewhat forgotten law to the contrary is the Freedom of Information Act. Under the FOIA, any citizen can request declassified government documents.

One example of the power of this civilian right can be found at the The Black Vault, the largest database of official UFO documents in the world. Twenty-six year-old John Greenwald has collected over half a million government documents pertaining to UFO’s through nearly two thousand FOIA document requests since he was fifteen years old. The documents have been collected and organized on his personal website.

From reading about Roswell to sightings in Iran that threw off airplane instrumentation systems, Greenwald has collected the documents and done his homework. Though Greenwald admitted in a recent interview that he doesn’t believe he’s “proved” anything, he does believe that the process of information gathering and sorting is a vital discipline.

We know that our government agencies have investigated phenomenon ranging from telepathy to psychedelics to telekinesis to extra terrestrial life. In light of these facts, it is interesting to think that what we don’t know might be available if we took better advantage of the FOIA.

Love the website, but...

The Black Vault is a fantastic website. It has a vast array of information waiting to be discovered. However, the forums are overwhelmed with attacks from certain members. I've been reading the website for quite some time now, and it's pretty evident there are disinfo agents on board. I wouldn't be surprised if they're some sort of phase with COINTELPRO or the Information Operations Roadmap.

thanks

That's a shame. What is cointelpro or IOR? Could you post another response explaining more about who these folks "could" be? Adam Elenbaas

COINTELPRO is an acronym for

COINTELPRO is an acronym for Counter Intelligence Program. It was implemented in the 50's and was claimed to be "terminated" in the 70's. Of course this isn't true. An operation never gets terminated, it just evolves into something else under a different guise. Just like project Carnivore, which was believed to be terminated in early 2000, but my workplace was a victim of this invasive surveillance a few months ago.

The Information Operations Roadmap was introduced by the Pentagon in 2003 and signed by Rumsfeld. It's basically a guideline for the military to conduct information operations and electronic warfare (i.e., propaganda, psyops, etc.).
