The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they caused the building to collapse remain unknown at this time. Great post

Will there be a new investigation? Are enough people becoming aware of the evidence that the official story missed? What happened after 9/11 has now caused thousands of deaths in afghanistan and iraq. It looks like it was an inside job. It is hard for people to believe that the US govt was involved. The truth hurts....it hurts bad.

9/11 was an I/O job!

I've done tons of research on this subject! It's extremely important *not* to automatically jump to the "9/11 was an inside job" slogan. It would be naive to do so, as the "truth" seems a bit more nuanced than that. As Daniel said on AAR's Clout show, "The evidence is confusing." This is the proper tack to take: There's definite evidence that elements of the military-industrial-financial complex, as well as well-placed/high-level rogue elements within the U.S. *and other* governments were involved to a degree (Israel, Pakistan, etc.). There's evidence that elements within the private sector, both domestic & multi-national, were also involved. And, there's even evidence that terrorism is involved. This is why I say that 9/11 was an "I/O job" rather than an "inside job." I don't want to see the truther mantras spreading to this site. If I want them I'll go to 9/11 Blogger or something. The "truth" movement has been perpetually plagued with failure to offer an alternative working narrative. Furthermore, there's a lot of disinfo out there about "space rays," holograms, pods, etc. In the confusion, people resort to "let it happen" or "made it happen," because it simplifies things. If simplification is a necessity, then I offer this to the uninitiated: "helped it happen." Most of the seasoned researchers have settled around this idea, since 9/11 is more aptly described a perfect mess than a perfect conspiracy. WTC 7 is a good place to start one's research. PS - DP did a nice job on Clout, adding the soft touch that the whole debate really needs! It was surprising to hear from him on this topic.

With relief, with humiliation, with terror, he understood that he too was a mere appearance, dreamt by another. - Jorge Luis Borges, The Circular Ruins

Where Do We Go From Here?

These are helpful and insightful comments. The evidence surrounding 911 is confusing and the history of the status quo is certainly suspect. Does anyone know if there are any aggressive campaigns to uncover further evidence and illuminate these mysteries?

Clout on Air America 6/2

Thanks for mentioning the Clout appearance. You can download the show: http://airamerica.com/ondemand . It was 6/2 . I don't know if this costs money.

Richard Greene turned up at my speech at Lightning in a Bottle. I said that 9/11 could have been a conspiracy, but I didn't think it needed to be investigated. He was surprised by my perspective, and invited me on the show. I felt a bit odd about being included in this arena, but took the offer.

Afterward, I wrote Greene the following note, explaining my perspective:

If 9-11 was an "inside job," that means that a vast secret infrastructure exists that can basically undertake any destructive operation it wants with perfect impunity. There is no way that any governmental investigation is going to be able to gain traction against this force, which blew up a chunk of the Pentagon and sent Anthrax to the media and congress to incite panic and the immediate rubberstamping of the Patriot Act. If any investigation were to begin to bring out the truth, it would likely lead to a violent reprisal that would throw the situation into chaos - another terrorist act would allow for the declaration of martial law, internment camps, etc.

When I look at macro-trends, it seems to me that despite the destructive power of this hypothetical secret government (with a fascist lineage - 1,200 Nazi scientists were absorbed into the US military with Operation Paperclip, Bush's great uncle was a main financier of the Nazi regime, etc.), its capability to control the global situation is quickly slipping away. South America, for instance, is no longer under the thumb of US interests, the "shock doctrine" described by Naomi Klein is now recognized by most developing countries around the world as a cunning control mechanism, and the Middle East is going off the dollar and substituting the Euro as the reserve currency for fossil fuel transactions. The Iraq War has shown that traditional military dominance, even with the latest in high-tech weaponry, is less and less meaningful or effective. The US military bases around the world may be an enormous and expensive liability. We are learning the painful lesson that it is impossible to control reality, though it can be mastered in the Taoist sense, when we learn to flow with it.

In fact, the US may be on the verge of slipping into a massive depression and hyperinflation, similar to what happened to Russia in the 1990s. I recommend the book, "Reinventing Collapse" (New Society) by Dimitry Orlov for one good analysis of what this will be like. He recommends stockpiling razors, condoms, and vodka bottles for barter. The mortgage meltdown may be only the first phase of a multi-stage destruction of the US financial system (and by extension, the global system), with a crisis in personal credit to follow. (I have written about this on my Reality Sandwich blog).

At the same time, climate change is accelerating. The book "With Fear and Violence : Why Scientists Fear Tipping Points in Climate Systems" notes that past climate shifts happened incredibly rapidly - 9 degrees in ten years is normal, which would lead to the melting of the ice caps entirely and a rise in sea level of 10 meters, flooding all coastal areas and causing 600 million environmental refugees.

Apparently, Amma, the Indian "hugging saint" who is thought to have predicted the 2004 tsunami, recently stated in a trance state that the year 2010 would see "immense suffering" in the world, worse than anything ever experienced, that "people would wish they had never been born." She said her ashram on the California coast would be underwater within two years. "Humanity is a cancer on the Earth, and the Earth wants to shake them off," she said. The trance prediction was being videotaped, but she had her followers erase this part of the tape, as she didn't want to cause panic. Of course this would fit the "2012" timetable, so I am sensitive to it, though also recognize that any particular prediction may be wrong.

In any event, I don't think environmental calamity and economic collapse due to resource scarcity can be avoided, so the question is how to prepare for these transformative events, compassionately and sanely. This requires having a plan of action, and then a method for disseminating this plan of action to others. I do think the revival of Gandhi's satyagraha ("truth force") movement of direct nonviolent action is one possible part of the answer.

When we take all of these factors into account (and more I could go into), my personal perspective is that we are best served using almost all of the very limited time and energy we have at our disposal to construct a viable alternative to the current "suicide system," using social networks and the media to reach as many people as possible with solution-based approaches and support systems for growing their own organic food, reinventing local communities, developing different mechanisms of exchanging value, even learning from the sustainable practices of indigenous and tribal people such as the Hopi, who mastered subsistence agriculture in an arid climate. This would be the most adult and responsible approach to the problems we face as a species.

We can see from NOLA and Iraq that the outsourcing and privatization of government services, the hollowing out of government that Klein documents in The Shock Doctrine, does not lead to effective control but sloppy chaos and disastrous corruption and failure. At the same time, as books such as Clay Shirky's "Here Comes Everybody" reveal, the Internet has the potential to allow the multitude to self-organize into collaborative groups that could allow people to take over most of the work currently not being performed by top-down governmental agencies. I also recommend "Multitude" by Antonio Negri and Michael Hardt, on how the new forms of labor no longer require authoritarian controls or hierarchy - the "open source" movement being the greatest example. As I argue in 2012, it is not just a system but an entire form of consciousness that is disintegrating - one based on control of others, control of nature, and on belief in an outside or transcendent authority.

While I do think it is important that people have come forth to challenge the official 9/11 story, which has more holes in it than Swiss Cheese, the danger for people is that their level of consciousness then gets bound up in the fear, negativity, and anxiety that our system is designed to magnify. When too much of your psychic energy is bound up in what happened with Building 7 or whatever, you are not capable of being adaptive to the current rapid changes that require a massive transformation in society and consciousness. We need to figure out how to create new social habits, entraining the multitude to sustainable practices in all areas of life.

I also think - as hypothesis supported by my personal experience - that there is some truth to the idea that we co-create reality through our intention and our use of psychic energy. In that case, without being PollyAnna-ish, it is really important to focus on the most positive outcome we can work toward, and not get caught in negative loops that may reinforce negative possible outcomes.

A few words on "nonviolent direct action"

Hi Daniel,

Although I appreciate most of your comments, I am beginning to gather certain concerns and objections to your recent trend of invoking Gandhi and "nonviolent direct action." Although you are well-versed in many intellectual subjects, you have no real experience or understanding of direct action, and you cannot glean this from simply reading a book.

As I offered in your midnight "discussion" at Lightning in a Bottle, it's important to remember that "nonviolence" is actually incredibly violent, it's just that the violence is one-sided. One side has to be willing and ready to suffer, and perhaps give up their lives, to brutality in order to advance their cause. Tens of thousands of Indians were gunned down or otherwise killed, maimed and brutalized so that Ghandi could walk behind them proclaiming "nonviolence." Thousands of African Americans died or were brutalized during the Civil Righs era so that King could walk behind them safely, preaching "nonviolence." And recently, thousands of monks in Burma were either killed, brutalized, or disappeared in the name of "nonviolence." Talk to Frida Berrigan about what her father and uncle went through leading the anti-nuke movement. Talk to Rachel Corrie's parents about what happened when their daughter decided to non-violently resist home demolition in Palestine.

My point is not to discourage a nonviolenct direct action movement, for that really is all we can use against the dominant system save for a total drop-out, parallel society movement (which is problematic and unrealistic in its own right). No, my point is that I don't think you or anyone else should preach about things you know nothing about, and would not risk your own self, life, or security for. Until you are willing to put your body, your reputation and career, and your life on the line, you have no right telling others to do it, or even casually suggesting it as a course of action.

Unlike you and most Americans, myself and a small cadre of comrades in various (mostly radical) political movements have spent years in the streets planning and committing direct actions. We have been beaten and jailed and maced and tear-gassed by riot cops. We have been monitored, photographed, videotaped, had our email and phone and websites tapped or hacked. We have fought in the courts, in the streets, in the electoral arena, and in the court of public opinion. We have taken the blows both literally and metaphorically for what we see as justice, We take issue with interlopers who preach "non-violent direct action" without having the slightest clue what that entails, what risks and sacrifices are involved, and how precarious a plan of action it really is. My personal opinion is that Americans simply don't have the guts or conviction to put themselves and their lives on the line for anything anymore. Please, by all means, prove me wrong.

Warranted or not, you have tremendous influence over a lot of people, and the wrong advice could prove deadly to those not prepared or fully understanding all that is potentially involved. What you are doing is manifestly irresponsible. Please stop, or learn more about it first before commenting further.

I know you don't handle criticism particularly well, but this is more important than some tactless person taking issue with your book. This is about life and death and human security. It's very serious business, not to be exploited by political dilletantes and those hoping to make a name for themselves as "leaders of the movement."

You should know better, Daniel.

so what is your plan, stan?

Hi Charles,

Typically, there is a bit of adolescent machismo in your comments. I believe I have manifested plenty of courage in other ways, and when it seems valuable and important to do so, would be willing to risk my self in a nonviolent action campaign. I haven't done so in the past essentially because I haven't seen the depth of collective support or intelligence of organization in these types of actions that would give them the remotest possibility of succeeding. In many cases, the protestors have seemed to be more into grandstanding than in actually working strategically to build the type of coalition that could bring about effective change. Your snide and superior tone about King and Gandhi is bizarre, considering what both of them endured, and how they died. Do you have a better idea about how they should have acted?

Charles, I have asked you this before, and I will ask you again. You seem to love to dwell in negativity, to present the worst possible interpretations with no positive vision of any sort. What is your plan for the near future? If you don't think direct action is possible, and you don't think breaking off into a parallel society is possible, how do you see a way forward for us? Can you even see anything beyond your dystopian psychological projections? If you can, I haven't heard it from you yet.

"Will the transformation."-Rilke

Interesting

Hi Daniel,

Very interesting. So, I basically call you out for speaking out of turn about something you know nothing about, and your response is to call me "adolescent" and to call all prior efforts by movements as "ineffectual grandstanding." Again, this coming from a person who's never attempted any of it, addressing a person with extensive experience. What does not seem right here? Taking lots of drugs and writing about it does not make you an expert on social movements. Neither do New York cocktail parties.

I'm quite used to you reducing all your critics into people with "negative projections." But that's getting really old, and not entirely applicable, now is it?

And as far as solutions go, I'm not so arrogant as to think that I know the way to solve the world's problems. And I don't think having a solution is a prerequisite for identifying a major problem.

But I am comfortable acknowledging when someone is full of shit (or themselves). You've never done anything for humanity, Daniel. Not unless it advanced your career. Let's not go getting delusions of grandeur now. It's so unbecoming.

Charles Shaw

never done anything for humanity

Charles, I never met Daniel Pinchbeck and I am not sure I ever will (what with me living in Europe and all), but I can tell you that, intentionally or not, Pinchebeck has, at least, changed one person's life.

I have a very close friend who is HIV positive. After reading Breaking Open the Head, my friend decided to try ayahuasca. He's been on the path for a few years already and his quality of life has improved tremendously. He is a different person, a better one, I might add, more compassionate, more understanding, less fearful, than he was before coming into contact with Daniel's book.

At the end of the day, we do not change the world through masses, Charles... we change it one person at a time. And I can tell you this: Daniel Pinchbeck opened a door of hope for someone who was very ill. Does that qualify as "doing something for humanity"? Although my opinion might not be super valuable and an ultimate proof of judgement, it is enough for me. I can at least say, my friend is still with me thanks to the works of this one writer. And that, Charles, is also a way of "doing something for humanity".

Great, but...

I'm happy Daniel's book helped your friend, obviously his books have helped lots of people in different ways. But that was a passive result of his writing them. Daniel did not set out to help your friend or anyone else with Breaking Open The Head , he set out to write a book for himself.

Now, as he talks about direct action, my points entered the conversation. Hence, committing Direct Action, civil disobedience and the like are solem and selfless contributions to a cause and belief...i.e. "something for Humanity." It is in this that my friend Daniel has no experience, and hence, no foot to stand on in pontificating to others.

Charles Shaw

On The Subject of Pontification

According to Schopenhauer we are incapable of direct action because the subject (consciousness) must interact with the object (space-time) via our perception of the phenomenal universe. Our body, the bodies of others, the sun, moon, earth, everything we perceive is filtered through the senses. Therefore, every act of will is performed through indirect action whether it be writing a book or an attempt at civil disobedience.

Your assertion that civil disobedience is "a solemn and selfless contribution to a cause and belief" is mere opinion and greatly suspect in general. Your claim that it is "something for humanity" is full of pomp and presumption. There is little difference between the deaths of those who were killed as a result of nonviolent protest in India or those who died as a result of China's reaction to civil disobedience in Tibet. Violence is senseless and stupid no matter what the circumstances are.

I think the measure of success (as superficial as it is) should be to what extent we exert our will and effect the phenomenal universe. By that measure Daniel has done rather well. Any assertion that an author's contribution to humanity and society is less valuable because he does not fancy himself a martyr or a revolutionary is not reasonable. Real martyrs and revolutionaries do not choose their place in history. Fate or history chooses it for them and by many accounts it is a miserable and painful existence.

flow around

Thank you, Daniel, for expressing something also within myself I was hesitant to accept.

Last night I had a conversation with an intelligent friend about 9/11. She's heard some chatter about the possibility of a government conspiracy--mainly from me, as far as I know--but says she'd rather not look too deep because she doesn't want to live in a such a horribly dark world. Our conversation was generally focused on spiritual matters and dipped as an aside into 9/11.

This is a dilemma I've faced since I first looked into the 9/11 information a little over two years ago: a part of me wonders if my attention on the crime prevents a positive outcome from the entire process; sometimes I think my contribution to reality is so strong that I might wake up and find the events of 9/11 perfectly explained in a way that not only heals us all but also serves as an unprecedented catalyst for personal growth. Can my belief make such a thing happen? Is this too PollyAnna? The rational, former philosophy major in me says I'm losing my grip, but my experience also confirms that my positive expectations can affect previously unthinkable change. Should I not focus on negative possible explanations and instead turn my attention to healing, transformational outcomes?

When I first encountered the possibility of an alternative 9/11 conspiracy, I became militant and thought the purpose of my generation would be to challenge tyranny or watch every following generation slide deeper and deeper into an inescapable, eternal slavery. I went to the marches, waved the banners, talked with strangers, called into radio, and wrote to newspapers and politicians. I found that I agitated myself and achieved little more.

I decided to take a page from the Tao Te Ching, and flow like water around the block.

My direct, political efforts didn't make a dent against the structure that could've enabled 9/11, so I decided I would have to change myself. Like Jung said, What you resist, persists. I decided that instead of fighting the 9/11 coverup, my revolutionary action would be to give every person I encounter--especially the most miserable and lost--to give them my full, compassionate attention and every kindness I can imagine. We can't change our society with a trial, but I can brighten a heart with my smile.

Daniel, thank you for confirming a seed of thought within myself that direct political confrontation may not be the best response to 9/11, and that we don't have to pretend nothing happened either. There is another way around this, and it might provoke something much better than a new, independent investigation.

When it comes to 9/11, I think of Blake:

Damn braces,

Bless relaxes.

Vision

Daniel,

I agree that our vision of the phenomenal universe determines our place within it. Cultivating constructive, problem-solving ideas and a positve sense of well-being is the most pragmatic approach in confronting the obstacles facing us. I also think we need to adopt a critical and clear-eyed view of those obstacles. Charles seems to have an aptitude for this type of critical analysis, although I disagree with his conclusion. He has provided a wealth of material here that lends valuable insight into many of the unanswered questions surrounding the events on September 11th, 2001.

I share your vision that we can disseminate information on healthy, sustainable practices to create social communities with built-in redundancy that provides us with a viable alternative for the future. Yet, this does not mean we cannot or should not demand an honest investigation of the truth from our political representatives as well. You indicate that "if 911 was an inside job, that means that a vast secret infrastructure exists that can basically undertake any destructive operation it wants with perfect impunity." I hesitate to agree with that. It is speculative and potentially biased. The fact is that we don't know exactly what happened on 911 or who was involved.

I don't adhere to the belief that all political officials are corrupt and that our current system of representative government is entirely without the checks and balances that would allow for an investigation into the circumstances of 911. I will be labeled naive for saying so, yet there is as much proof rebuffing the concept of government corruption as there is evidence affirming it. I imagine the details of corruption are highly nuanced and complex. When I reflect upon the collage of world events and recent history, I too can conceive of "a hypothetical secret government with a fascist lineage," namely Nazi lineage, that has usurped our democracy and our culture. Yet, there is not enough evidence reinforcing that argument. We don't know to what extent this is true.

Essentially, I agree with you, but I still think we can attempt to investigate the circumstances surrounding 911 without polluting our psychic ecosystems with obsession and violence. The success of such a campaign would depend on the organizational capacity and initiative of its adherents. Unfortunately, there may not be such an organization with any sign of success. Still, the conclusion you have propogated is the best I have found, Daniel. You've shown the ability to act on your ideas and manifest them in the mundane world and we are all the beneficiaries.

As an aside: Certainly, the argument can be made that it is hypocritical of you to espouse concepts of dramatic, socioeconomic reformation while you participate in a capitalist system. Yet, I disagree with this accusation. It is obvious that you directly benefit from the success of Reality Sandwich and your status as a figurehead in the counter-culture community, but it is remiss of anyone to suggest that such exposure is undeserved or unnatural. I don't believe you have ever described yourself as a revolutionary and we can hardly fault you for making a living.

I have never paid any fee for the services Reality Sandwich has provided and the online magazine is open to publishing articles from a large variety of contributers. You make yourself available to your readers and seem genuinely interested in the ideas presented on the website, whether they be articles or commentary. I appreciate this and I think many others do as well.

Entheos Genesthai

I really think you have something here...

Its seems that the biggest conspiracies are among the terrorized rather than the terrorism, that somehow these things get treated differently than a natural disaster. Should we attack the earth because it shakes sometimes? Economic disparities allow hate mongers the ability to gather the oppressed under banners retribution but rather than treat the disease at its root cause the West allows its shadow elements to run amok for the benefit of an even smaller elite. After being hardened against suffering when nature does decide to throw a bit of destruction on the table we react with such inefficiency as to barely put a bandaid on wounds that require a much deeper form of healing. We've recently seen even some of the most hopeful projects like One Laptop per Child get caught up in corporate politics but out of the ashes of that Sugarlabs has risen like a phoenix due to the commitment of the open source community. Humans can be a resilient bunch when they let their humanity take the wheel.

Synchromystic Investigation

Another interesting conclusion comes from "the father of synchromysticism", Jake Kotze, and it has less to do with "who done it and why" and more to do with the synchronicity between the three buildings and the pyramids of Giza and the Three Pillars in Freemasonry.

The end conclusion is that the event was a significant catalyst that focused consciousness on one point in space-time and, to use the popular culture moniker, opened a "stargate". Makes a lot of sense if you saw the TMNT movie, and if you look to the original design for the Freedom Tower that would replace it.

Anyway, here's his blog: http://rundonotwalk.blogspot.com/

http://thebravenewworldorder.blogspot.com And the

youtube video: The 9-11 Stargate

http://youtube.com/watch?v=qUvSqY3po24

I think we get too concerned with pointing the finger, and demanding "justice", when it seems that there is an unseen force beyond the scope of conspiracy theories and political ties.

building the movement

thanks to reality sandwich and charles for posting these resources. 911 truth finally seems to be entering the main stream, and this will definitely help spread the word. it's hard to deny at this point...

to johnnymonicker,

yes, there is a very aggressive reinvestigation campaign headed by 911truth.  have you all heard about the hunger strike of blair gabsby for 911 truth? check it out www.911truth.org

SynchroMysticism

The SynchroMystical path is perhaps as best a path as is possible to follow. 9/11 truth acts like a black hole for those unprepared. It sucks one in & possibly fixates them with negative energies. It's therefore important to have a solid framework of the nature of half-truths before taking the SynchroMystical "high view" of the event. As for aggressive investigation campaigns, just look at this list. It answers most of the nitty-gritty "factual" questions. For instance, I could tell you generally that false-flag ops are par-for-the-course procedure for all empires going back to Roman times. I could tell you that these ops are done in "compartmentalized" fashion, so that the person doing it is just following orders in working on a tiny part of a much bigger picture. The guy planting incendiaries in WTC 7 could have just been painting a beam for all he knew. Unaware of any wrongdoing as such, this allows a "huge conspiracy" to be pulled off by a relatively small, tight ring at the top. But who cares? The greater truth is one of "resonance," to use DP's word from the clout interview. The high-view perspective sees these things like Pearl Harbor & 9/11 as cyclical events, a recurring way to "split the splitters," to establish diverse orders within mankind. The cabal at the top couldn't care less about what us "manimals" at the bottom perceive. They feel we're several orders down from them. And so long as we continue along arguing about & embroiled in such details we're proving them right!

Incidentally, here's a little bit about Japan Attacking us, PRINTED NOVEMBER 30, 1941, 7 DAYS BEFORE PEARL HARBOR:

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/IMAGES/pearlharborwarning.jpg

With relief, with humiliation, with terror, he understood that he too was a mere appearance, dreamt by another. - Jorge Luis Borges, The Circular Ruins

9/11 Truth is a "gateway drug"

9/11 truth was an eye-opener for me, I think for the most part because the evidence (of controlled demolition especially) is so convincing, it forces you to acknowledge a reality very different from the one you know.

We all are partially deluded (some more than others), and those of us who maintain they are not are the most deluded of all. I think the American Public needs a smack in the face, to bring us out of our glib, decadent, binging. 9/11 Truth is already doing this for a lot of people.

If Pinchbeck is correct that a new investigation would be futile because it would require a vast secret government (which isn't necessarily true), then we are better off doing it anyway, forcing the government to play it's hand. The sooner that we confront this situation, and stop lying to ourselves, the better off we will be. The jews who rebelled in the Warsaw Ghetto had a higher rate of survival.

However if Pinchbeck is incorrect (partially), and there are factions warring secretly in our own government over this, and it it more the likely case that any inside job was perpetrated by a small group of the most criminal elements in this government, then the good people (or maybe just self-interested, or whatever) working in public positions and the military desperately need the help of the public- who are not restricted by orders and need-to-know. We are dealing with a power that cannot thrive in the open, and there are many potentially good things that can happen if the public was fully aware of the facts, or even aware that the government refuses to confront the facts. I think it's our best chance of seeing the Bush/Cheneys and other minions put to trial. And I would urge any New Yorkers to support the 9/11 truth ballot initiative going on right now.

9/11 Truth, and the efforts of Alex Jones and the Patriot movement who are largely responsible for it coming into the mainstream, is intimately connected to what this website is trying to accomplish. When I woke up to 9/11 I also woke up to the real world of banking and monetary reform, which I now believe is an even more essential issue than 9/11 Truth. It was completely outside my consciousness that the simple act of using fiat currency can silently enslave me in ways I can't even imagine. Now I'm sickened at the open fraud thats been eating away at us for the past century. It also makes me extremely hopeful because I know how much we've been held back. And for anyone who believes that the present economic crisis and specter of the destruction of the dollar is a dying gasp of our secret Nazi government, you need to consider the alternate possibility that it is also a "controlled demolition" in the banking world, as it has been decided by the world banking cartel that our currency has served it's usefulness and now needs to be replaced (preferably by the "Amero").

This links up with the memes circulating on this website, whether we know it or not. Everyone has a feeling deep down that our problems are related to money. It's like we are all parts of one big brain, where the accurate perception of reality doesn't exist in any one element (or individual) but rather in the connection between those elements and the play involved in their different assessments of reality. Even our delusions might serve a function in that larger brain. And the more we learn to be merely connections in that brain, rather than sole egos, the more we might be correct even while simultaneously being wrong.

In any case, we are already in this sh*triver too deep, and we are not going to cross to the other side without swimming through a lot of sh*t.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the people who have power to print money, start wars with synthetic terror events, and cause depressions won't give it up without exercising that power first, and who knows what else. But perhaps if we spread the meme of monetary reform far and wide, we can be ready and waiting with novel barter and currency systems, which any depression or crisis in fiat currency is fertile ground for. A lot of people are going to get hurt one way or another, and the sooner we remove this tick, the faster we start to recover.

Slowing down at the scene of an accident

From an October 17, 2004, New York Times Magazine article by writer Ron Suskind, quoting an unnamed aide to George W. Bush:

The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

Question?

Hey CJMoore...

Do you ever say anything that makes any sense? Just curious.

What is the deal, my friend?

Charles,

Most everyone one of your comments, in this thread, has been vitriolic, negative, and designed to provoke anger and resentment.

This is particularly sad, because you write you very well, claim to have a breadth of experience in 'direct action', and, through the cursory experience of examining some of your comments, appear to be relatively intelligent.

Are you just having a bad week and taking it out on anonymous RS posters? You can make your points without being so confrontational. Debate happens to be much more conducive to learning than harsh arguments.

Chill out, sir. Reevaulate your positions, and come back with some more substantively positive commentary and critique.

Thanks,

Alex Grey's 9/11 "download"

I posted about this awhile back on here, but it deserves recounting...

My favorite piece of "evidence" for gov't complicity in 9/11 comes from an unusual source: Alex Grey. Look closely at his 1989 painting "Gaia" -- it currently hangs in the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in NYC, and was featured in the liner notes of the Beastie Boys' Ill Communication. The piece portrays the spirit of the earth as a broad-trunked tree, sharply dividing scenes of idyllic natural paradise on the left, and industrial hell-on-earth on the right.

Depicted in the lower right-hand scene, in a smog-filled sky, are two jet airplanes flying above the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Although it is hard to make out unless viewing the piece in person, standing abreast the tree in this scene is a business suited politician-type bearing more than a slight resemblance to GWB, with his arm around the shoulders of a brown-skinnned, bearded, machine-gun-toting terrorist. Alongside them, overseeing the fiery destruction of the planet, is a man-sized phallus with insectile pincers -- perhaps we can call him "Dick."

Amazingly, Grey didn't make the connection between this prophetic painting and 9/11 until an observant fan contacted him about it by email. As a truly visionary artist, Grey "downloads" the imagery of his work from a higher source -- in my mind, this is confirmation on a divine level. If this intrigues, I recommend a pilgrimage to CoSM to view it up-close...

wow!

amazing.

What's the beef?

Yeah Charles you seem like a bit of a maniac. You got personal first and in a very sweeping and exaggerated way. Do you have some personal beef with DP?

Well, since you asked...

Hi John,

Since you asked, yes, I do have some personal beefs with my friend there, which I have to admit drove a bit of my indignation and perhaps a bit of the vitriol. For that, I must take a bit of responsibility and chill it quick-like.

However, my main point stands: I appreciate Daniel's or anyone elses' offerings from their particular Baliwick. But I have to take umbrage with those who speak beyond their level of expertise. Yes, the general aptitude level of those on this site is high and most of us are fairly autodidact with many things. But this is not something you learn from a book.

Daniel clearly thinks he's qualified enough to style himself as some kind of "leader of the revolution" with a plan to save us all. I believe it's the subject of his next book. Good luck. Perhaps he may end up serving in that capcity in some way, who knows. But to my knowledge, he's never participated in Movement, party, coalition, or populist politics, never been part of resistance group, policy reform group, lobby group, and certainly has never engaged in Direct Action or civil disobedience.

This matters. Although Johnny Moniker said it was "pomp" to claim that this kind of activity is solem and selfless and requires a whole other level of courage, the bottom line is that it does. It takes huge "balls" to put your life on the line like that. Again, have any of you ever been tear gassed or skull-cracked with a baton? I guarantee you won't take such a cavalier attitude towards it once you have.

Look, I will freely agree that movement politics stand at a crossroads and have been, sadly, mired in ineffectuality for a while. But it's not for an interloper with no understanding of why these movements failed to claim they know the "right" way to go about this kind of work. It's also a huge slap in the face to those who have dedicated their lives to social change to call their work "grandstanding". Yes there are some grandstanders, but there are also selfless, committed souls. How dare he or anyone else impugn those efforts when, as I said earlier, he has never put himself on the line for any of it.

So, who am, I then to speak so critically? Well, I've spent the better part of my adult life in these pursuits. Here's just a sampling:

Ok, so is this "adolescent machismo", as Daniel calls it, for me to offer my experience as a way of saying, "hey, listen, there a lot more to this than just saying read Gandhi and engage in nonviolent direct action?" Because, I offer this not just for a little ackknowledgement, but also as bona fides for what I am to say next.

Everyone is asking, what's the solution? Well, I don't quite know, it's still revealing itself. But, here are the systemic issues we face today.

First, most resistance activity today is based around a 19th and 20th century populist model of marches, rallies, and protest action. But these are woefully inadequate in the face of high-tech in-the-street repressive efforts of law enforcement. Today, it is literally useless to engage in these types of resistance activities because a) the police power is overwhelming and cannot be countered, b) demonstrators are recorded and catalogued in new databases, then followed and harrassed c) the risk of severe injury is great, and we are a comfortable people disinclined to such sacrifices, d) the media completely ignore them, as does most of the public e) so few people actually engage in them in the first place.

All of this is a very general summary. For detailed analysis of the history of law enforcement policy read Christian Parenti's Lockdown America.

At the 2004 DNC and RNC protests in Boston and New York the amount of firepower and surveillance in the street was unbelievable. In New York, we had one million people descend on the republicans over the week in a series of coordinated actions. No one heard a word about it. Myself and 1000 other nonviolent demonstrators were imprisoned on Pier 57 in a makeshift prison camp, and no one knew a thing about it. I'm still engaged in a Federal class action suit over this. There's lots you can find on it through the NYCLU, including an incredible report on police activity during the week. Pretty scary stuff.

Add to that the difficulty organizing coalition politics, the disparate special interest groups, the careerists, ideological differences, general apathy in the American public, and the fact that most so-called "activism" groups in this country are federally regulated not-for-profits all competing for the same few palty dollars, and you've got one huge boondoggle.

Were any of you aware that last month the dock workers at the Port of Los Angeles--the nation's largest shipping port--shut down the port for a day in protest against the war? Did this have any kind of effect on anything?

The point I am trying to make is that we live in an increasingly multicultural, polyglot society where it is very diffcult to forge a unifying principle to bring people together. Case in point: for the yearly anemic anti-war marches that mark the anniversary of the invasion, there are at least a half dozen competing organizations and coalitions who simply cannot work together because they cannot decide on one point to focus on, so they each plan a separate rally and march to speak to their particular bases. This amongst an already paltry showing in all cases. Basically, we're already divided and ruled, and we can't seem to let go of our hang-ups to cease being so.

So, it's fairly clear that any new activism needs to be cellular in nature, decentralized groups operating with a common cause, where there are no heirarchies, no identifiable leaders to eliminate, and where everyone is empowered equally to carry out their mission, and teach others.

There also needs to be an end to ideology and cultural fascism in movement politics. People should not have to become revolutionary Marxists to participate in a resistance group. By imposing a certain belief or value system on others, we scare away most, and annoy the rest.

If you want to see an example of what "next level" activism might look like, check out the monks in Myanmar. They are radical activists with a powerful spiritual grounding (one failing in today's movements is secularism) who not only put themselves in the line of fire, but also show up later to help clean up the mess. When the government of Burma failed to help the refugees from the typhoon, the monks were there to offer food, clothing, and shelter, even though nine months earlier they were brutally put down during the uprisings. The monks symbolize a return to a selfless, egoless activism that is about service and not about making a name for oneself. It's what spiritual leaders have done for eons. But now, in America, thanks to the commercialization of 60s resistance, we have celebrity activists who end up compromised by their need to fund their lifestyles and remain in the media spotlight.

Still, the monks operate in what is a much more monolithic society, and so they hold a certain place of reverence amongst the Burmese. There is no one analogue for this society. And so, even though it is in vogue to claim that we need a "spiritual solution" to our problems, try telling that to an angry athiest Democrat.

Lobbying the government is futile. Our government is so hopelessly corrupt, and the process so labrynthine, that even if a bill gets passed, it is not necessarily enforced, and can be overturned or otherwise nulled with the next administration. And state lobbying is often futile in the face of Federal intervention - just look at what happened in California with medical cannabis or gay marriage. We definitely cannot rely on government to change things, in fact, government is most of the problem.

Using the courts is futile as well. Corporations and governments have enough money to tie the process up indefinitely, buy off the judges, or have the case overturned on appeal. Or, the corporations simply ignore it. Just look at the tobacco class action.

Technology will not save us, because most of the masses are on the other side of the digital divide, and without the masses, we have no real power.

Clearly, there will not be a "psychedelic revolution." Too few people, too homogenous group, and as Leary showed us, far too idealistic.

Economic boycots show much potential, but for the fact that people woud have to sacrifice and shift their lifestyles, and that's not looking too likely these days. Ditto tax resistance: people are too afraid of the IRS and bad credit ratings. But money is the source of their power, so if this method can be developed and implimented, it could potentially be very powerful.

My personal feeling is that the solution has yet to reveal itself, but I do not hold out a lot of hope for it surfacing any time soon.

Engaging in radical politics was the single most frustrating endeavor I have ever undertaken, and I was a committed soul. The burnout factor is overwhelming. And so few people carry that fire in their bellies these days. People here simply have other priorities, and are way too comfortable. It will most definitely take things getting a lot, lot worse for there to be any kind of mass movement. It is only when we are inconvenienced that we act upon anything.

So, go ahead and call me a "negative energy projector" and tell me I'm the problem because I'm not a naive idealist about these things. But until you've spent the time in the meetings, on the calls, in the streets, in the hospitals and jails, and arguing with everyone who doesn't see it your way, you simply won't understand just how daunting a task it really is.

And maybe you'll understand a little better why I and my colleagues would take issue with a neophyte proclaiming he or she knows the path to salvation.

That's really all I have to say on the subject. Except to say that Richard Merrick really summed it up great, so read his comments.

I'm expecting a torrent of attacks, but it'll have to wait until Monday for my response cause I'm goin fishin'. I do hope, though, that you give these thoughts some consideration.

p.s. - I never try to directly convince anyone that the official 9/11 story is bogus, I learned my lesson. I simply provide others with the tools that helped me. If they chose to pick them up and use them, great. I have learned that 9/11 truth is more a psychological issue than a practical, physical one. Waking someone up requires the shattering of all their previously held mythologies and constructed realities. Thus, I see 9/11 Truth more as a gateway towards a new personal, possibly spiritual awakening then as a tool of revolution.

for the record...

...as someone whose known Pinchbeck since we were pre-adolecent, and as someone who has attended dozens of marches and protest actions with him over the years, I just want to say that your characterization of Daniel (as someone who is unqualified to critique protest politics because he has supposedly never engaged in it) is factually incorrect.

The philosophical debate that's behind all of this is certainly valid, but the pissing-match aspect is based on total mis-characterization.

After reading this most recent post of yours Charles, with it's very well articulated breakdown of what's needed to bring activism into the 21st, my feeling is, where the hell is the real difference of opinion, anyway? He's struggling with the same problem you are, how to evolve protest from an ineffectual paradigm. It's a crucial but frustrating piece of the puzzle.

Is this is why the enemy outmanuvers so much of the time? Our f**king in-fighting?

Thanks, Tony

Thank you for clarifying that point. Dozens of actions, you say, eh? Thazza a lotta marches. But my point is not whether or not you showed up for marches other people organized, which is easy. That's what the majority of those who actually do anything end up doing. They show up, march, then go home. They don't get involved beyond that, and that's most of the problem. And marching in a few protests does not qualify you to lead a movement. I'm sorry, it just doesn't.

I'm loathe to continue this discussion along these lines, because despite the profusion of comments, and despite the fact that yes, I started it, this really isn't about Daniel, or me. It's about a difference in perspective on where we are, and where we're headed, and how we should get there, or not get there, depending on the destination.

Clearly the largest percentage of people lay outside this countercultural millieu, so our "RS" perspective is greatly limited in its potential effectiveness. In many cases it is a liability: people just can't take drugs, aliens, and "psychic projections" seriously, no matter how well articulated. So, if any of this is to work, it will somehow need to be translated to other groups in a language they will understand, through people they can connect with. While people like Daniel are very effective in communicating to their own kind, it gets lost in translation once we start talking about a movement on a mass scale.

Part of what me and my colleagues have tried to be is a bridge to other communities that lay far outside our ilk based upon common experiences with them in the past like prison, grassroots community activism, and coordinated outreach. And I can tell you, it's gonna be an uphill battle. Our ilk is mostly white, educated, affluent, and, uh, "visionary" if you catch my meaning. We are a TINY subset of the population that most simply do not understand or jibe with. Most people do not respond to high-minded ideals and complex intellectual arguments, they respond to the visceral needs they have right in front of them: food, security, and adversity. Bertrand Russell or Buckminster Fuller may have been great thinkers, but they never hung out in the ghetto or the barrio. At least to their credit, Grof and Leary worked with homeless and prisoners, but that was more about the medicine than the movement.

Above all, humility in the face of greater or higher powers is most needed. We really don't need any more Pied Pipers, whether their name is Obama, Pinchbeck, or Amma the Hugging Saint. We all need to be leaders, not followers.

And perhaps most important: we need to stop trying to think our way out of our predicament and start feeling our way out of it. There is no way to think ourselves into a better world, and all the genius in the world is useless if your heart is closed or cold.

A final rhetorical question to leave you with. Did the monks in Myanmar "co-create" their own slaughter through "negative energy projections?" Or could it more likely be that there is shadow and evil and darkness, and that it loves to war with the light? Because if you chose the former, you're basically parroting the pabulum of The Secret, which posits that bad things happen to people because of their "bad thoughts" (i.e. fat people are fat because they have "fat thoughts" and starving children are starving because the brought it upon themselves by thinking negatively).

No sir. There is an epic archetypal battle being waged right now, and for some time into the future. We may be at the end of an epoch, but don't for a minute go believing that we can kum bye yah our way through this. The dominant system, driven by dark forces, will not just step aside. If they go down, they will scorch and salt the earth on their way, and potentially billions of us will die with them.

I ask that if you want more "positivity" from people like me, than I need more realism from you. Don't be a bliss bunny. Get real, speak truth, and stop calling the sky green when we all know it's blue. There is salvation in the truth; there is only ruination in continued "positivity-based" denial.

thanks, back...

...and all your points taken (the monks? option two, obviously. I have a major issue with wish-fufillment theology).

Remember, if people don't show up to events that other folks organize, then there is no turnout!

PS...hmmm, ok, let's just say 'a dozen' and keep it at that ;-)

Good to talk truth, but only in certain circles

Definitely two valid equally acceptable p.o.v.s. However, unless you can say what the truth's done for you lately, it's doubtful you're in possession of any.

I've already lost a good friend over the subject of 9/11 truth. My friend's highly intelligent, but has a low threshold for threats to his paradigm. It's not unlike why Chomsky won't address 9/11 truth. He's either "on the disinfo payroll" or he's incapable of "paradigmatic thought," to use DRG's term. My suspicion is that with my friend, and Chomsky, as well as many other intelligent people, the latter case is true.

Some people just can't think the unthinkable, no matter what their eyes & ears may tell them. The truth of 9/11 is quite literally unthinkable by the logic of this reigning (scientific) paradigm. It's exactly this "exploit" that allowed the orchestrators of 9/11, whoever they may be, to get away with such a crime. With people "shocked and awed" by 9/11 back into a child-like state (Naomi Klein suggests this is the effect of severe shock), piercing the 9/11 veil is not a matter of intelligence. It's more a matter of wisdom.

9/11 truth then separates the wise from the intelligent.

Perhaps Charles is approaching it from the "intelligence" perspective while Daniel's approaching it from the "wisdom" perspective. This is to say that Charles seems one of the few who've reasoned it out, while Daniel is one of the many who wasn't fooled by it. The intelligence perspective has Charles trying to rationalize the event by getting a more honest, thorough & impartial investigation. Reversals of cause & effect make no sense and hence deeply upset the scientific paradigm. Daniel rather feels it sensible to duly note the event as disharmonious, and to move past it since further rationalizations feel unwise.

Hopefully this sheds some light on the two differing perspectives - the interplay between intelligence and wisdom - on the subject of 9/11 truth.

With relief, with humiliation, with terror, he understood that he too was a mere appearance, dreamt by another. - Jorge Luis Borges, The Circular Ruins

The test of a first-rate intelligence is....

The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function. One should, for example, be able to see that things are hopeless yet be determined to make them otherwise. I'm glad to see my ayahuasca yoga brothers and sisters here at RS going 9-11. Brief background: I've been to the jungle with the shamans and I'm practicing taoist meditation and yoga. Two kids, own company, new york city pressurized lifestyle and a songwriter. I'm also active in petitioning for signatures with the 9-11 Ballot Initiative that is seeking to place on the November ballot for consideration by NYC voters whether to begin a new and separate investigation into the events of 9-11. Months and months of work have gone into preparing this and now we just need signatures! please sign the petition at least. info here: http://www.nyc911initiative.org/ We need 30,000 signatures. Daniel how can an enormous crime be ignored in the interests of remaining positive? An investigation IS positive. It is the desire for a new direction and a belief in a more just society. It is just as important as yoga and ayahuasca and research. Bodies in the street, live bodies, demanding change. Not JUST meditating in workshops designed to open the heart. And how can you be so fatalistic about the outcome of an investigation yet say you are a positive person? You don't have %100 predictive powers. Repeating the hugging saints dystopic vision seems deeply irresponsible, especially coming from you. Who knows where an investigation will lead? Maybe it will crystalize a new form of consciousness! At least sign the petition if you can't actively recruit signatures! It IS positive to face the truth. I can work for hours asking i-pod wearing, cell phone chatting new yorkers for two minutes of time and then return to the bliss of meditation and playing with my kids in the park and volunteering at public schools, amongst all my other tasks. No problemo. MANY PEOPLE WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS, AND EXPRESS DEEP GRATITUDE FOR OUR WORK. Many people are scared to sign for fear of being investigated. Yes, facing 9-11 truth and elite control of our society was a difficult thing to do, and takes a lot of strength, and I often see anguished looks from people when I attempt to discuss it, and I just back off. It is painful. So is death and old age. But with the proper framework, everything changes, and one of course has to eventually investigate these areas! RICHARD! excellent writing! thanks. CHARLES! great work on the links, but why go postal? It don't help NONE. WANDERLUST: are you suggesting the stargate is good, and 9-11 was necessary? I'm confused. Have you read "The Stargate Conspiracy"? It's great, and details the way alien phenomena and fake new age groups are created and maintained by elite mind control factions. Must read. BTW, one of the best movies about 9-11 didn't make the list above: http://www.911pressfortruth.com/ about the "Jersey Girls" who lost their husbands in the towers and demanded an investigation and got it, got Henry Kissinger fired from leading it, and are now demanding a new investigation as the last one was phony! Too bad they can't sign our petition!!! Hope's Revenge

I saw the second plane disappeareth
Into the tower’s burning twin
Terror’s power billowed black
And gray on my television screen
Leaning out from small windows
Baking bodies could be seen
Holding to the edge of hope
Others jumping from the heat
Splattering into despair
Became my soul’s final fate
Abandoned to hope’s revenge
To only question why.

I then saw the Twin Towers
Come tumbling, rumbling, crumbling down
Crushing numbness caused my knees
To shake and bend to the ground
A great plume of disintegration
Arose blinding my prayers to ash
Clogging my mind’s peaceful eye
With fear’s trash
Trapping me, suffocating me
Causing me to choke in rage
Abandoned to hope’s revenge
To only question why.

I then settled under the newly formed pile
Of smoke, grit, grist, and dirt
A heart felt torn, shattered, beaten
Battered, unforgiving and broke
Alone crying out at the rubble
And metal stubs
I questioned why
“I hate being hated,”
Came hope’s tearful reply
“All must also…
All the colors, cultures,
And all the religions of man too…
All hate being enslaved in hate…
All hate being hated… just like you.”

an ethics of seeing

I'm currently teaching media ethics and using 9/11 as a case study for the dilemma of responding to a tragedy ethically with media. I see it breaking down to two broad categories: an ethics of media, and an ethics of seeing. Media makers have a responsibility to respond in a way that is nonmanipulative (an impossible task, but there are responsible ways of communicating ideas), but we as viewers have to chose how we allow these images to flow through us and respond to them. Having been to the WTC site, the first reaction I have is that the event was a kind of black magic. Regardless of who committed it, the result is the same, it set in motion not a new set of events, but entrenched and solidified the worse elements of our society and gave them more justification for their beliefs. Yet, there were also the thousands of anonymous acts of love and charity that also resulted from the event. Some responded with war, others with love. I think we should have bombed Afghanistan with water balloons. That would confused the heck out of everyone, including ourselves.

We can look at those we consider our enemies and understand that they are also our teachers, or we can fall back on our old patterns and just reinforce the same old prejudices and fears. This is an ethics of seeing. How do we respond with our energetic output into the world? We can take action, yes, but also be conscious of the quality of that action and to be mindful of whether or not we are adding to the fear (and hence amplifying the spell), or dilute it in a away that doesn't add to the intent of the action. I don't know all the answers (I certain that running around and saying "fuck you Bush" is not one of them), but I do know that as media makers, communicators and artists our responsibility is to monitor the quality of our energy, and evaluate the ethics of our response. Is it genuine, authentic, from the heart? Or are we adding to the suffering with our own confusion?

For what its worth, the primary rule of white magic, which applies to the black arts as well, is no different than the laws of karma. Every action causes a reaction. In a meditation I once had a clear image that every thought is like a boomerang that is thrown out into the universe. Given that everything has its own timing, it returns when it is ready (or ripened). And it will return with the same force that it was sent. So we must ask ourselves, in response to 9/11, what boomerangs will we throw? Rest assured, justice for the perpetrators, who ever they might be, is certain.

My perspective on "positivity/negativity"

In some cases it's negative to be positive, in other cases it's positive to be negative. For instance, if you have a health problem, maybe a little pain in your liver or something, but you don't really want to think about it. It would be too "negative". Why live your life in fear about every little ache and pain? I could affix some kind of grotesque end to that story of course. Or maybe it's just a little muscle spasm and no problem. The point there is not that there is one right answer (what you should do), but rather a continuum in which one side leans towards right and the other towards a wrong.

In any case, I have the tendency to view those who dwell incessantly on the "positive"  (whatever that is) sort of like animals that have a biological glich so they feel no pain. Now I hate pain as much as the next guy, but I'm still thankful for it (mostly) and wouldn't have my body be any other way. Same goes for fear. Fear is the anticipation of a future negative outcome. If that outcome turns out to be real, and fear averts it or softens the blow, then fear becomes a willing towards positivity and turns out to be hope. Conversely, hope can be fear.

Furthermore, Love is the mother of fear. I think that the greater part of the fears I have are for those I love, especially the woman I love. That might include the occasional pang of jealousy, but mostly just concerns for her in general. Sometimes I even think that I can learn from my fears about what exactly it is that I love. So to say that life is a choice between fear and love, to me, just makes no sense. I don't see fear and love as two American Gladiators duking it out. Yet at the same time it makes a lot of sense for some other reason. And I don't really have an answer for that, but my guess is that more complexities are involved.

Yeah, COMPLEX. When you read that word, does it make you uncomfortable? I know it makes me uncomfortable. Do you want to make make it... SIMPLE? Like a battle between two universal "Forces"? Like in that movie? Don't you just want the ANSWER? So you feel like you're in CONTROL? I just want it so bad that I get those dirty feelings (keeping it clean for the kiddies). Wonder why.

But at the risk of being viewed as dwelling on the negative, let me share with everyone that one thing, that one answer, that one guiding light I have found.

(drumroll)

TRUTH.

Yes indeed, I find that rather than dwelling on the negative or positive outcomes of events, it serves me better to focus my energies on truth as a virtue no matter how negative it makes me feel. And I think for most people the truth train stops in Negativeland.

That being said, don't think I'm stupid enough to say I know the TRUTH about WHAT TRUTH IS. All I can say is that in my mind TRUTH is highly connected to DOUBT, the way I think of my grandmother whenever I smell lasagna. The whole 9/11 thing has a lot to do with that...

Thanks for reading my post this far. I really do appreciate it. Really. But please don't take my advice. I realize I'm stupid, pathetic, cretinous, lazy as well, but I want to learn. I even realize that my petty sarcasm is just a vain attempt to veil my animalistic power cravings. Maybe it's because I have so much negativity poisoning me that my consciousness is being held back like in that game MYST I used to play where I just wandered around this island and never found squat. And then in 2012 when Jesus comes back, I'll still be stuck at the lower level and then I'll be royally fracked over and over again for eternity in a lake of fire.

...I jest. No really, I have a great deal of respect for all you guys here, Pinchbeck and Shaw especially. Any guy that's been to jail or worse fighting Oppression gets my salute, even if you believe in the tooth fairy, and in my view that's the ultimate act of love. I also think that whether or not Pinchbeck has any street cred, he's perfectly justified in thinking up solutions, and all power to the guy, and for what its worth I love the whole Network based solution he's pushing. If people want to put all their trust in him or anyone else, then they will get what they deserve sooner or later... or on the brighter side, they will just be learning the hard way. To say he shouldn't talk about nonviolence because he hasn't really been there, makes the underlying assumption that we really should be listening to someone with credentials. An expert. Because people are too impressionable and unruly to come to their own decisions, and it's dangerous to have novices leading them. Really, I think we're still taking baby steps regarding the whole leaderless movement thing. It means that not only do leaders not have to be leaders, everyone has to be a leader including the leaders. If that doesn't make sense, then you're on the right track in my opinion.

Anyway, I think I've said enough and I'm signing off. Again thanks for reading.

The Opposite of Truth is Lie

The opposite of doubt is uncertainty... And to believe with certainty we must begin with doubting.

Doubt is uncomfortable, I know, but certainty is ridiculous.  And what men want  is not knowledge, but certainty.  For my part I know nothing with any certainty,
but the sight of the stars makes me dream.  And you know me, and you know my dreams, I give them to you.  Remember that dream about the waiting room and the
warriors?  Maybe it’s all about the self confidence that we hold?  Because the self-confidence of the warrior is not the self-confidence of the average man. The average man seeks certainty in the eyes of the onlooker and calls that self-confidence. The warrior seeks impeccability in his own eyes and calls that humbleness. The average man is hooked to his fellow men, while the warrior is hooked only to infinity.  Just ask CJ Moore.

I hope we do find out the whole truth to 9-11.  Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well but the certainty that something makes sense, regardless of how it turns out. You see, more important than the quest for certainty is the quest for clarity.

But for now I just keep myself in doubt.  But I still hope
we will find the whole truth.  I still hope but I am not certain about what will happen tomorrow.  The present is the only reality and the only certainty for me.

The future is uncertain to me.  I look and see that the quest for certainty only blocks my search for meaning. But uncertainty is the very condition to impel us to unfold our powers. The demand for certainty is one which is natural to us, but is nevertheless an intellectual vice.

And about you?  I am certain of nothing but the holiness of a heart's affections, and the truth of one's imagination.  And I know that when we are not sure, we are alive. And the faith that I have seen in finding an answer is a process of leaping into the abyss not on the basis of any certainty about ~where~ we shall land, but rather on the belief that we ~shall~ land. And when I consider this carefully, I find not a single property which with certainty separates the waking state from the dream. How can you be certain that your whole life is not a dream?

Although your intellect always longs for clarity and certainty,  your nature often finds uncertainty fascinating.  And I find that when we begin with certainties, we end in doubts, but when you begin with doubts, and are patient in them, we end in certainties.

I still feel that an answer to the whole 9-11 question lays before us.  I don’t know what it is.  But there is something that keeps calling us to unfold it.  It is uncertain to me but we are all included.  And I’m not asking for certainty to know what this answer is as no great deed is done by falterers who ask for certainty.

The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning. Uncertainty is the very condition to impel man and woman to unfold their powers.  And I know that when we’re together our power is great and holy.

But as it is, we are not certain, we are never certain. If we were we could reach some conclusions, and we could, at last, make others take us seriously.  And I know this, in all seriousness, that the one unchangeable certainty is that nothing is unchangeable or certain.

There is nothing certain, but the uncertain. And so I wait…  thinking of quotes of uncertainty and certainty, doubt and faith,  from great men and woman throughout the ages.

And that is the truth as I know it .  It is not a lie.

Meeting JFK at 9/11 in Pearl Harbor for a Naked Lunch

re: ST and Alex Grey's Gaia:

That's quite something.

Also, the destruction and terror of that painting, of Gaia - represents only about 1/4, if not less, of the whole scene.

Which perhaps is reflected somewhat in Daniel's position as metioned above, perhaps something like:

There is little use in being fixated/obsessed with  The Hell, since there is a whole lot more Good available to work with.

Whether Inside our Outside or both at the same time, trying to find the Truth about 9/11 seems something of a futile task. If there's a grand conspiracy, then the levels of that conspiracy would be such that no one who is/was directly involved would know who was who or who did what or who went where or why and so forth.

Probably, simply, it was like a "Mafia hit". There was some permission, and some button men did the job.

After the facts, "the truth" desintegrated, dispersed, and eventualy represents itself as what it was always meant to be: A very good distraction.

Hee Hee...

I was the one who pointed it out to Alex at a Benefit Trance party about 5 years ago for his work. I pointed to a  larged print of the painting and asked him if he realized what he painted. All he said "Wow that's interesting never thought about it." Perhaps he was being a trickster and pulling my leg and load of folks pointed it to him and he damn well knew he channeled something powerful...

That is amazing. I had a cassette tape copy of Ill Communications back in the day and was always fascinated by that pic.

Wild stuff--

As for the rest of this discussion, it seems kind of a moot point. If you do whatever your heart moves you to do and you do it mindfully and without hurting anyone or anything, then isn't that the right thing?

For some that might be direct action, for others it might be writing. For others it might be planting a flower along the side of the road--who's to say which will have the greatest effect? The flower could be seen by a young poor kid who will be inspired to paint a picture and become the graffiti artist who will inspire the MC who will make the record that another MC will listen to who will be inspired to take it to a whole other level and inspire an entire generation of revolutionaries.

(hopefully those revolutionaries will in turn arm themselves only with flowers, so that the circle can close)

one love,

9/11, Facts, and John O'Neill

Owing to my personal history I hold several differing perspectives simultaneously. Applied to the events of 9/11, this leads in several directions, as there is a necessary conflict in my views on the nature of facts.

There are journalistic facts in the sense used by C.P. Scott when he wrote "comment is free but facts are sacred" in a 1921 essay celebrating the centenary issue of The Manchester Guardian. Regarding 9/11, these are in very short supply, for a number of reasons:

o Fear and intimidation;

o Confusion -- 9/11 was a huge and complex mass event involving thousands of people and a number of huge bureaucracies;

o The massive classification of documents;

o An emotional inability to consider explanations at variance with official explanations;

o A potential reluctance to admit to being an accomplice or accessory after the fact to murder coupled with the related and nearly insurmountable difficulties associated with interviewing actual participants; and

o The changing nature of media and reporting in this Google era such that adequate resources cannot be deployed even as former "quality" newspapers and other news sources parrot accepted explanations.

We are frequently left with nearly impossible-to- verify Internet rumors even as anyone who bothers to wade through endless websites and watch on-line videos can't help but notice incongruities, problems, and odd loose ends associated with the official explanations.

Internet rumors aren't facts in the sense that C.P. Scott used the word, but something is very obviously screwy with the official explanations.

Meanwhile the events of 9/11 are still used to underpin present heinous policies while endless news sources treat the official explanations as factual, those explanations having become thoroughly embedded in the historical narrative.

Scott was no metaphysician; he was long dead before, say, Jane Robert's Seth began dictating his books on the nature of reality, and was not an enthusiast of philosophical thought focusing on the relationship between so called objective reality and the subjective self. He was a newspaperman, and anything touching remotely on the occult or suggesting that reality is not entirely revealed by the physical senses -- beyond his Unitarian religious beliefs -- contradicted his worldview.

Were he alive today, he would likely be disgusted by both the behavior and actions of modern political, industrial, and military leaders and the lack of serious investigations into the events of 9/11.

What's missing are the facts obtained by documents and carefully corroborated information acquired by interviewing participants, this presented in a forceful way by credible media entities.

A Seth enthusiast knows there is no single future (see Exercise 2. at Doorways ).

It's possible to attune to probable futures in which what actually happened on 9/11 is revealed and thoroughly explored in media presentations entitled "How They Did it" without becoming too deeply entangled in the fact that multiple versions of past events exist as surely as multiple future realities, personal and mass.

The exact physical pathways to such futures are unknown -- attuning to them exclusively would, as upthread posters have noted, require someone to be overly in touch with the darker energies of those ego-bound throwback personalities associated with the 9/11 event for comfort.

A range of futures result, from 9/11 remaining a perpetual mystery to particularly nasty versions (in terms of the nature of those responsible and their utter hypocrisy) being revealed in short order or over great lengths of time.

Of course a swift revelation might be disastrous for a country just beginning to feel the effects of its long dependence on oil even as many of it citizens have grown thoroughly disgusted with policies of aggressive militarism, but no country that professes to live by the rule of law can abide mass murder and look the other way for long, particularly when, at a minimum, some degree of collusion of unknown members of its own government looks increasingly plausible.

Waiting for journalistic facts to appear in our primary reality is one approach, supplemented by periodic focusing on this as a desired outcome.

In the meantime, there is a particular discarnate personality very well suited for exploring "what actually happened" (again within the limits of multiple versions of past events). Successfully interacting with and translating the thoughts of this personality would not add one iota of journalistic fact to the mess, particularly as so many hold to materialistic beliefs and find the mere mention of such possibilities completely suspect and suitable for derision.

Even so, such communications might be quietly used to supplement continuing amateur investigations that could, eventually, lead to more creditable and professional work.

The personality is John O'Neill, in life an FBI official focused on Al Queda who retired in August, 2001, and died on 9/11 on the second day of his new job as head of security for the WTC. He has both the skills and the desire to fathom "what actually happened" while no longer being encumbered with the limitations of physical embodiment.
