Collecting Sun

Solar Panels thmb.jpg

A recent discovery from MIT researchers sheds light on a problem that has been plaguing solar power for years. Formerly, solar energy was fairly simple to collect and use during the daytime, but due to a highly inefficient and expensive storage process, valuable energy was lost during the night hours.

Now researchers have created a process using non-toxic materials to accrue energy for later use. This advancement in clean energy was inspired by photosynthesis. “The key component in Nocera and Kanan's new process is a new catalyst that produces oxygen gas from water; another catalyst produces valuable hydrogen gas.” The researchers hope that this breakthrough will have every American household in America using solar power within 10 years.

Speaking of incredible...

Bah humbug

A layer of algae suffocating a water source won't do it. Neither will an earth smothered in plastic Photo-voltaic panels. Nor will a migratory impeding skyline of windmills. And there's the obvious reasons nuclear is a no-no. As for methane, probing the depths of the oceans has already resulted in sea life ecocide. C'mon, you all really think we can keep up this level of superfluous luxury? If so we're gonna have to do better than this.

A friendly reminder: All of these technologies take, literally, impossible resources to manifest.  We'll have to recognize this some day. Today's a good day!
