Brainy Love

In this short TED Talk, anthropologist Helen Fisher offers a psychological perspective on romance and human behavior.

Fisher argues that the human race has evolved into understanding three stages of love: lust, attraction, and commitment; and that love is not an emotion, but a craving or a drive, stemming from a "powerful brain system." She believes that our culture is returning to greater equality within relationships, leading to more stable, "symmetrical marriages."

Helen has been featured in National Geographic and has published a book on her research, Why We Love: The Nature and Chemistry of Romantic Love.
