America’s Comic Book Apocalypse

Thor_Moviethumb.jpg

America since its inception has rarely embraced true myths of self-sacrifice, and so it is hardly surprising that the Thor posters proclaim: "Courage is Immortal." It is the commando's slogan.  Where in America is there a child who might learn that both Odin and Thor achieved their Archangelic and Angelic destinies by acts of self-sacrificing renunciation rather than self-aggrandizing physical violence against imaginary enemies? The Astrological Revolution

dannthumb.jpegRudolf Steiner said that when a person dies, the configuration of stars at that moment remains as an imprint causing the soul to try to enter into the same configuration upon reincarnation. This idea became a Rosetta Stone for research into the mysteries of karma and reincarnation as revealed by a study of the stars.  (more)

The July 22nd Total Solar Eclipse and the Riddle of 2012

TSE2009globe1a.jpg

Commentators on this season’s crop circles have remarked upon the appearance of the so-called “Quetzalcoatl Headdress” and other Mayan glyphs and also on the continued predominance of planetary imagery -- including pointers to July’s multiple eclipses -- among the circles. As yet, no one has drawn a relationship between the upcoming total solar eclipse on July 22nd – the longest total solar eclipse that will occur in the 21st century – and the Mayan Long Count end date of December 21, 2012.  (more)

A Pilgrim's Progress

IMG_8834_2.jpgToday is day number 13 for me on the "Corridor of Amity," and since 13 is my lucky number, it seems a fitting day for me to log in a report from the road, on my way from Vergennes, Vermont, to Chimney Point, to give my "Maps & Dreams" show at the state historic site there. . . (more)

The Apocalypse Code

St. John's Book of Revelations, like the Mayan Long Count, expresses a time cycle derived from the precession of the equinoxes. If we can penetrate the mysteries of the Mayan calendar, can we not bring similar effort to the archetypal work of Christian prophecy? (more)

Christ & the Maya Calendar: 2012 & the Coming of the Antichrist

small cover.jpgMight Christian prophecy, as expressed in John's Book of Revelation, have insights as to the real significance of the Maya Long Count end date of December 21, 2012? A new book from Lindisfarne/Steiner Books suggests this. (more)

Henry Thoreau's "Secret"

Henry_David_Thoreau_Small.jpg

[Daemonic Dispatches] • "He prays for it, and so he gets it." No, that isn't a line from The Secret. It's a line from Henry Thoreau, just nine words of the over six million he penned in his extraordinary journal. In many ways those nine words encompass Thoreau's central thought and discovery. Despite his distaste for fortune-finding, Thoreau had an uncanny aptitude for discovering treasure. (more)

Ahh, smell the bliss! (more)

Secret Weapons

Torture & Terror on Turtle Island

Mendoza_HumanSacrifice thumb

[Daemonic Dispatches] • In the Republican presidential primary debate in South Carolina, only two of the ten candidates repudiated torture. Frontrunner Rudy Giuliani said interrogators should "use every method they can think of" to get information. The audience applauded wildly, in a chilling gesture that seemed to suggest that many contemporary Americans are happy to have torture performed in their name.Torture has a long history on this Turtle Island continent. Rudolf Steiner spoke of a set of black magical mystery practices in ancient Mexico dating to the first century AD. (more)

Tin Horns, Flies & . . . Tadpoles

Limb Regeneration thumbnail

[Daemonic Dispatches] • Professor V. S. Ramachandran, Director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at UC San Diego, is one of the most visible neuroscientists proclaiming and popularizing the notion that there is an imminent revolution in the understanding of the human brain. His own recent work has focused on such mysterious neurological anomalies as phantom limbs, synaesthesia, and Capgras delusion, a condition in which family and friends are experienced as strangers. Attention to anomalies is at the heart of the Fortean endeavor. Yet there is much in Dr. Ramachandran’s science that obscures rather than illuminates. (more)
