An Interview with Visionary Artist Thijme Termaat

tTEASER_IMAGEthumb.jpg

Thijme's three-minute video,  I Paint, could have been made a century ago. He made it one frame at a time, at a rate of a minute of film per year, using no digital effects. Once it hit Youtube it soon had over a million views. (more)

A Spiraling Eye-Encrusted Overview of the Art of Alex Grey (Part 1)

alex17crthumbjpg.jpg

Alex is in touch with what Aleister Crowley called "True Will." He recognized his mission early on. Alex fulfills the foundational core of most True Will: commitment to consciousness and service to others. (more)

Green Energy Vortex

dollarthumb.jpg

Money is magic, a highly symbolic artifact woven together by the massive intentions of the collective human psyche. It is a signifier of stored energy, as much as a battery or a gas tank, an ability to do work, to do magic, to make things happen. (more)

Falling Through the Looking Glass

zap1thumb.jpg

To really engage the creative process you cannot merely look through a sealed looking glass into an alternate reality, you must fall through the looking glass and allow yourself to be swept along by the current. (more)

Incendiary Person in the Desert Carnival Realm (A Burning Man Story)

zap1thumb.jpg

I had come to the High Desert Carnival Realm with a magical agenda: to ritualize the experience by associating the Incendiary Person with aspects of myself that I wanted to transform, aspects I linked to Thanatos, the death drive, so that the burning would parallel my intention to transcend.  (more)

Romney's Freudian Slips and Fluctuations in the Force

romneythumb.jpg

For all his faults, Freud did nail down "slips of the tongue" as a significant phenomena that is rarely, if ever, random. So when Romney's unconscious tells us that he is here to bring people together to "serve" problems, not to "solve" them, we should pay attention. And why did he introduce Paul Ryan as "the next President of the United States?"  (more)

The Batman Shootings and Crossover Effects

banethumb.jpeg

Some movies that have high access to the contents of the collective unconscious are "window zones" or portals between realms, and weird and uncanny things happen in their wake. Particularly, movies about dark, occult things have a long history of these crossover effects. (more)

You Are Only As Old As You Are: The Six Noble Truths of the Zap Philosophy of Aging

agingthumb.jpg

Now that it is politically incorrect for age to be a number, apparently my age is based on how I feel. But how I feel is always changing. So let's take off the beer goggles of you-create-your-own-reality, New Age wish-fulfillment thinking. You are as old as you are and what people really mean by aging is something far more serious and tragic than age. (more)

The Dangerous Methods of David Cronenberg--A Brief Review of A Dangerous Method

kiera5thumb.jpg

The film reveals much about Freud's patriarchal authoritarianism and monomaniacal dogmatism, and Jung's adulteries, violations of professional ethics, and descent into near madness are shown to be inextricable from his visionary realizations.  (more)

Dynamic Paradoxicalism: The Anti-ism ism

yinyangthumb.jpgDynamic paradoxicalism is my attempt to create a meta-philosophy that is a counter to fundamentalist and absolutist thought, which is nearly as common amongst New Agers and the Left as it is amongst religious fundamentalists and the Right.  (more)

Lessons for an Entity Incarnating as a Mammal

bigbangthumb.jpg

Many entities revel in the momentary explosions which are called "orgasms," mini-reversals of the Big Bang; they are like little bangs where Eachness explodes into Oneness. Often Eachness and Oneness get entangled and confused, and the desire to experience Oneness through a Hottie causes blindness to the Eachness of the Hottie. (more)

Foxes and Reptiles: Psychopathy and the Financial Meltdown

greedthumb.jpg

We must be aware of psychopaths when we design financial structures. Since psychopaths are a force of nature we are unlikely to eliminate, we should harness their unique talents to serve the socially useful purpose of catching other psychopaths. We need a highly motivated team of clever reptiles and foxes to catch other reptiles and foxes. (more)

Alex Grey and the Mind Parasites

Alex_deitiesthumb.jpg

I caution people about going to a rave with a sketchy vibe and taking a boundary-dissolving substance. Unless you want to internalize a carnival of lost souls it is probably unwise to blow yourself wide open in a setting of trance-inducing music/lighting and stoned people, many of them on the prowl for parasitic sexual encounters. (more)

The Singularity Archetype and Human Metamorphosis

A_Zap_CoverZ.jpg

The Singularity Archetype is a resonance, flowing backward through time, of an approaching Singularity at the end of human history. Since the Singularity Archetype is a ubiquitous hologram, you don’t have to see it through my eyes. It is like a mote of light you can see reflected in the eyes of multitudes. (more)

Pushing the Envelope, Boundary Expansion into Novelty in Personal and Evolutionary Contexts

cliff2thumb.jpg

To push a larger envelope you need panoramic vision. You need to be able to look all around you to make sure that you are pushing the largest envelope possible. If you commit yourself to pushing the envelope into a narrow tunnel, significant parts of you get stripped off so that you can fit into that space. (more)

A Guide to the Perplexed Interdimensional Traveler

zap1thumb.jpg

An Interdimensional Traveler must have a moral purpose, and must be aware of all the shrinking rays that press upon us. The price of freedom for the Traveler is eternal vigilance about the sticky enchantments that would like to bind us to the Babylon Matrix and turn us into hordes of automatons and hungry ghosts. (more)

Transcending Online Road Rage

fistthumb.jpg

Perusing the comments sections of two articles on Reality Sandwich and Evolver,  I was struck by the abusive tone of many commentators, a tone I have encountered in other online forums. I refer to it as "road rage" because there are parallels to vehicular aggression, which also occurs in a dynamic, anonymous medium. (more)
