The introduction of LSD may have been the most important event in the cultural history of America since the 1860s. Before acid hit, even rebels such as Thoreau, Emerson, and Whitman believed in God-given authority. But after one had rewired one's self with LSD, authority became hilarious, and there wasn't much we could do about it. (more)
