Check out multi-dimensional rock videos featuring sacred geometry and alien cultures on Blasted Mechanism TV. Blasted Mechanism's fusion of rock with the sitar and didgeridoo mixed with Mediterranean, Indian, African, Persian, reggae, psychedelic and techno beats creates one of the most expansive sounds in music today.  The band's lyrics use theological and metaphysical overtones to speculate at a new level of consciousness, one revealing the possibility for unity, love and Truth.

RS's Tristan Gulliford described the band best when he said, “If an alien civilization ever made contact with us and then sent musician ambassadors to express their culture, the result might sound something like the Portuguese prog rock/world fusion band Blasted Mechanism. Their music, costumes, and videos present a sonic and visual iconography that is exotic and unfamiliar, and at the same time oddly mythological.” Imagine the merging of Beck, Talvin Singh, Femi Kuti, Michael Franti, and Bjork...the result would be Blasted Mechanism. Sound interesting?  It is.

HELL YEAH!

This music is HOT SHIT!!!! WOW!!!! As an alien rockstar myself- I was fully inspired in all ways and fancy I'll get some of their music to listen to. One thing- I felt like you did the band a disservice by comparing them to Beck, Talvin Singh, Femi Kuti, Michael Franti, and Bjork. They sound nothing like Beck and very little like Michael Franti- even lyrically it's a far-off comparison. This band represents the novelty of alien culture interfacing with human music, Tristan described it well. But to compare them with bands that already exist cheapens their originality when the similarities are mild at best. Thank you for sharing this music with us however. It is truly awesome.

Point well taken

Joan of Art ~ Glad to hear you enjoyed Blasted Mechanism as much as I did. I meant no disservice in comparing them to other bands, my intention was merely to give those who have not heard of them an inkling of what they may look forward to. With Beck I was comparing the far-outness of his live and video performances, as well as his ability to cross and blend musical boundaries, and with M. Franti I do see similar qualities in lyrics, though this may not be heard in all their songs. You'll notice as well in Tristan's complete review that he also compares them to other bands. And yes at the same time, Blasted Mechanism is certainly in a category of their own, one which they created.  Anyways, such is the beauty of art that interpretations are so varied and personal. Again, I'm glad to hear they resonated with you. Rock on~ Marisa

there is hope.

simply fucking awesome. i want more.

Wow!

Whole lotta NUTHIN goin' on there. Repetitive, non-dynamic, extremely UNMELODIC, lyrically insipid, visually uninspired and uninspiring, overall brash and grating... These lads are going to be BIG! BIG, I tells ya!

creative

sounds tribal...but looks futuristic....overall very interesting!
