The Batman Shootings and Crossover Effects

bane.jpeg

The tragic situation in nearby Aurora, Colorado  (I live in Boulder), with 70 people  shot at a showing of The Dark Knight Rises, is not a random, incomprehensible event. When these horrific mass killings happen, however, it is common to hear people say that we may never comprehend how such things can occur. For example, at a memorial service after the Oklahoma City Bombing, the governor of Oklahoma said, "We can't understand why this happened." These seem like odd statements that people make on behalf of a species that has managed to project its understanding into black holes, subatomic particles, the genetic code and the edges of the universe.  If we can't comprehend the murderous actions of a member of our own species, then we damn well better keep trying.

Mass shootings, like the one that just happened in Aurora, have become a recurrent nightmare that haunts the collective psyche. As the nightmare repeats, we see patterns emerging. One, which we don't have confirmation on yet in this case, is that the shooter will almost always turn out to be on an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor).  For example, Colorado's other most famous mass shooting, Columbine, was masterminded by 18-year-old Eric Harris who was on the SSRI medication, Luvox.

Here's an index of shootings and the SSRI connection someone put together: http://ssristories.com/index.php. The popular press, which depends on big pharma's advertising money,  doesn't have much to say about this established connection. Even the literature from the drug companies admits that "homicidal and suicidal ideation" are possible side effects of SSRIs.  In this article, however, we will be exploring other parts of the pattern.

Movies are a collective dream delivery technology.  Some movies that have high access to the contents of the collective unconscious are what Charles Fort called "window zones," or portals between realms, and weird and uncanny things happen in their wake. Particularly, movies about dark, occult things have a long history of these crossover effects. An example most are familiar with is Brandon Lee, son of Bruce Lee, and his role as the star of the movie,  The Crow.

Brandon plays a character who has been murdered, but returns from the dead.  During a stunt, a gun loaded with blanks somehow also became lodged with a dummy bullet, which a blank propelled, killing him. Other movies with equally bizarre crossover darkness: The Omen, The Exorcist, The Twilight Zone and Poltergeist.

One aspect of the present shooting that seems to cross the improbability threshold into synchronicity/ crossover territory is that the same movie company, Warner Brothers, that produced Dark Knight Rises had trailers out in movie theaters concurrently for Gangster Squad which shows gangsters breaking through a movie screen and firing at the audience. I can't imagine a more direct emblematic image of crossover effects. To see a stunning still image from the Gangster Squad trailer (or to experience this article as a podcast or youtube) go here:

Also, in the trilogy of Batman films that concludes with Dark Knight Rising, we already had a crossover, the untimely death of Heath Ledger before the release of the previous film in the series, The Dark Knight. His uncanny portrayal of the Joker seems to have had generated crossover effects in both Heath Ledger (as we'll examine more closely later) and the present shooter, James Holmes, who told police "I am the Joker," and dyed his hair red to look the part.

The Joker is probably the best personification cinema has ever brought us of the trickster archetype. The trickster archetype has a dominant role in paranormal phenomena, and this is brilliantly analyzed in George Hansen's seminal book, The Trickster and the Paranormal.  Hansen describes the trickster this way:

The trickster is a character type found in mythology, folklore, and literature the world over; tricksters appear as animals, humans, and gods. They have a number of common characteristics, and some of their most salient qualities are disruption, unrestrained sexuality, disorder, and nonconformity to the establishment. They are typically male. Tricksters often deceive larger and more powerful beings who would thwart them; they may be endearingly clever or disgustingly stupid -- both cultural heroes and selfish buffoons.

Tricksters are boundary crossers; they destabilize structures; they govern transitions. They also embody paradox, contradiction, and ambiguity. The topic of marginality can be included here. Tricksters are marginal characters; they live at boundaries, with uncertain, ambiguous statuses.

Many of these same characteristics, as Hansen points out, are also true of the paranormal:

...psi, the paranormal, and the supernatural are fundamentally linked to destructuring, change, transition, disorder, marginality, the ephemeral, fluidity, ambiguity, and blurring of boundaries. In contrast, the phenomena are repressed or excluded with order, structure, routine, stasis, regularity, precision, rigidity, and clear demarcation.

The trickster violates the social order and crosses all expected boundaries. In the case of the Batman shooting, the trickster seems to have crossed out of the movie world into the waking life. The trickster is the natural enemy of established order, and the boundary between realities is the one he most likes to violate. As the Joker puts it in The Dark Knight,

"Introduce a little anarchy. Upset the established order, and everything becomes...chaos. I'm an agent of chaos."

The paranormal, as Hansen points out, is fundamentally a crossover phenomenon:

ESP and PK are, by definition, boundary crossing. They surmount the barriers between mind and mind (telepathy), mind and matter (clairvoyance and PK), as well as the limitations of time (pre-cognition), and that of life and death (spirit mediumship, ghosts, and reincarnation).

Another crossover,  that no one could have planned, is that the nemesis of The Dark Knight Rises is "Bane." A character created 20 years ago, and dominating the news (before the shooting) was  Mitt Romney, and the questionable actions of his company, Bain Capital. Rush Limbaugh, never known for his research (googling the character, Bane, reveals that he was created in 1993), suggested that the homophonic name parallelism was a leftist conspiracy,

"Do you think it is accidental that the name of the really vicious, fire-breathing, four-eyed, whatever-it-is villain in this movie is named Bane?"

Soon, we will likely be told that James Holmes is a schizophrenic or suffering from bipolar psychosis or something like that. My former writing mentor, novelist E.L. Doctorow, once described psychiatric jargon  as the "industrial form of story telling."  We need to look past the industrial story telling of news analysts and mental health professionals. There is more in heaven and in earth than is dreamt of in the DSM-IV.

Crossover effects are especially likely to happen when creative people contact certain elements existing in the collective unconscious through the imaginal plane. Here's an example of this crossover effect from Jeffrey Kripal's, fascinating, elegantly written and illustrated new book, Mutants and Mystics:

It appears that the paranormal often needs the pop-cultural form to appear at all. The truth needs the trick, the fact the fantasy. It is almost as if the left brain will not let the right brain speak (which it can't anyway, since language is generally a left-brained function), so the right brain turns to image and story to say what it has to say (without saying it). Consider how back in the late 1970s the prolific comic-book writer Doug Moench found himself writing out the real in a work of fantasy a few seconds before it became the real, in fact. I sat down with Doug in the spring of 2009. Here is the story he told me. Moench had just finished writing a scene of a Planet of the Apes comic book about a black-hooded gorilla named Brutus. The scene involved Brutus invading the human hero's home, where he grabbed the man's mate by the neck and held a gun to her head in order to manipulate the hero. Just as Doug finished this scene, he heard his wife call for him in an odd sort of way from the living room across the house. He got up, walked the length of the house, and entered the living room only to encounter a man in a black hood with one arm around his wife's neck and the other holding a gun to her head: "It was exactly what I had written...it was so, so immediate in relation to the writing and such an exact duplicate of what I had written, that it became an instant altered state. The air in the room congealed, became almost like fog, and yet, paradoxically, I could see with greater clarity. I could see the individual threads of his black hood." Doug's emotional response to this series of events was a very understandable and natural one. He became obsessed with the black-hooded intruder for months, then years. More immediately, he found it very difficult to write, so terrified was he of that eerie connection between what he might write and what might happen: "It really does make you wonder. Are you seeing the future? Are you creating a reality? Should you give up writing forever after something like this happens? I don't know." (from the highly recommended book, Mutants and Mystics)

I've written extensively about crossover effects in my book Crossing the Event Horizon -- Human Metamorphosis and the Singularity Archetype.  The most relevant case I discuss concerns both versions of the movie Village of the Damned, and the tragedy that left Christopher Reeve a quadriplegic shortly after the release of the John Carpenter 1995 version of the film. Both the 1995 version and the British, 1960 version, had numerous, disturbing crossover aspects. It would take too many pages to unfold that case here, but it certainly brought to the foreground of my mind that movies can be crossover portals (window zones) where there are lapses in the supposed firewall between the collective unconscious and the waking world.

Movies that probe into archetypal darkness are like windows into the abyss. We feel safe as we gaze through them as though we were observing the abyss through the synthetic sapphire porthole windows of an impervious submarine. We are accustomed to think of movies as our impervious submarines and space ships that allow us to probe the darkness without being consumed by it. For ten dollars or so we take a ride into the underworld and are usually returned safely to our seats.  But as Nietzsche put it, "If you gaze overlong into an abyss, the abyss gazes back at you."

Of course, I'm not warning people away from movies. We need movies to be portals, even if the portals sometime become associated with instances of tragic magic.  Movies are a very good example of what people mean when they say "the veil between the worlds is thinning."  Some will dismiss this statement as a New Age cliché. But this statement can be rationally defended with very unmystical examples of familiar technological effects.  The veil between the world of the psyche and the waking world of seemingly solid objects has been greatly lessened by movies, video screens and search engines amongst various veil thinning technologies.

Search engines are one of the most potent veil thinners we have ever created. Whatever strange thing might be in our mind, it is only a matter of moments before we can make it appear on the shape-shifting, pixellated screen in front of us. And this, of course, is for better or worse -- dark thoughts and light will both be magnified and manifested. For example, let's say a man suddenly forms an unwholesome desire to see  Japanese school girls in S&M poses.  He can type the right words into Google and in a second or two his inner obsession has manifested into websites filled with images and videos offering to act as portals into this particular fetish.  In a more positive case, someone with a few hundred million dollars at his disposal may create a portal to another world (see Avatar and the Singularity Archetype),  and distribute that portal throughout the planet.

There is no such thing in nature as an H-Bomb, that is all man's doing. We are the great danger. The psyche is the great danger.   --C.G. Jung

We have a moral obligation to look into the collective unconscious because one of its crossover effects is called "history."  And as Stephen Dedalus, the James Joyce character, so memorably put it, "History is the nightmare from which I am trying to awaken." History is a crossover effect of the collective unconscious. War, every aspect of the economy, violence, mass shootings, environmental pollution -- these are all psychological products. All these things originated from psyche, so any discussion of those things that doesn't probe into psyche is superficial, and misses the prime mover of all human phenomena.

There was tension in the air at the Century Movieplex here in Boulder, Colorado (nearby Aurora, the scene of the shooting) when I went to see the film on the sunny afternoon following the shooting. Two squad cars were parked out front and heavily armed and armored members of the Boulder Police Department were standing in the lobby.  According to the friend who took me to the movie, when I stood up during the film to go to the bathroom, he could feel the whole movie theater take a breath.

Movies so often contain mayhem, but it is usually assumed to be safely confined to the silver screen. The presence of the police in the temple of fantasy, the multiplex, was the tangible acknowledgement by the established order that movies can project themselves past their silvery screens.

Another extremely weird crossover is that Warner Brothers, the producer of Dark Knight Rises, just pulled all the trailers for Gangster Squad. According to the local CBS news, the trailer included gangsters with machine guns firing into the audience of a packed movie house.

I'm not going to analyze Dark Knight Rises in detail, but here are a few impressions: I found the film to be extremely powerful and to resonate potently with some charged themes in my psyche, and no doubt the collective psyche. An implacable dark force is superbly personified by the character Bane. We see the dark force manipulate politics and use technology to put a Sword of Damocles over the heads of the citizens of Gotham City. Disturbingly, Gotham City was never before so explicitly New York City. There is even an aerial shot of lower Manhattan that shows the incomplete Freedom Tower rising from ground zero. The New York City setting stirred anxiety in me as I am a relocated New Yorker and most of my family lives in the city. Bane, the ultimate terrorist, striding the streets of the 9/11 city was an unsettling image.  Many scenes on Wall Street and inside the stock exchange seem to manipulate the resentment between the 99% and the 1%. Also resonating in my mind as I watched the film was the 2012 presidential race and the odd homophonic crossover of Bane and Bain.

The movie is brilliantly done, deserves to be seen, and resonates with American, if not international, anxieties. I absolutely do not hold the movie makers in any way shape or form responsible for what happened. The unconscious always erupts and seems to particularly favor erupting through the portal of the movie, a technological artifact that functionally bridges the imaginal realm and the waking life.

Here's another example of a crossover effect:  An unemployed artist haunts an occult book store. The books are like portals for him, and the artist has strange synchronicities and visions as he probes into them. The artist had fantasies of a thousand-year world empire, of a sinister sigil emblazoned everywhere -- a reversed astrological symbol called a swastika, of a master race, and of mass extermination camps where people were put in ovens.  His twisted, improbable fantasies crossed over in a most unpleasant way and this obscure, unemployed artist  becomes famous for his crossover event called World War Two.

My recent book, Crossing the Event Horizon -- Human Metamorphosis and the Singularity Archetype, is about a cataclysmic, but ultimately evolutionary, metamorphosis about which we are getting signals from the collective unconscious. Quite often, these signals are most powerfully delivered through movies such as 2001, a Space Odyssey.  The forces of quantum metamorphosis get to speak through movies, but so also do the forces of darkness.  Movies, and all media, need to express both dark and light thought forms. As change accelerates, as novelty increases, we should expect that the outer edges of light and the outer edges of darkness will both be intensified. As a Tom Robbins character put it, "You don't get a big top without a big bottom." Movies will reflect both the top and bottom edges.

Consider the above to be an introduction to crossover effects with movies and other media. Now we will shift our focus to actual cases and take a look at the previous Batman movie, The Dark Knight, which was electrified by the unsettling, uncanny performance of Heath Ledger as the Joker.  The best known crossover effect for this movie was the tragically untimely death of Heath Ledger before the film opened. Less well known is that during the filming, a technician, Conway Wickliffe, a New Zealand-born special effects technician, was accidentally killed while operating a camera during a stunt.

Heath Ledger talked to many people close to him about being adversely affected by the joker. Ledger took increasing doses of prescription drugs to deal with insomnia and other problems.  According to the Office of the Medical Examiner of New York, "Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine."

According to a Daily News article entitled "Jack Nicholson warned Heath Ledger on 'Joker' role":

Heath Ledger thought landing the demanding role of the Joker was a dream come true -- but now some think it was a nightmare that led to his tragic death. Jack Nicholson, who played the Joker in 1989 -- and who was furious he wasn't consulted about the creepy role -- offered a cryptic comment when told Ledger was dead. "Well," Nicholson told reporters in London early Wednesday, "I warned him." Though the remark was ambiguous, there's no question the role in the movie earmarked as this summer's blockbuster took a frightening toll. Ledger recently told reporters he "slept an average of two hours a night" while playing "a psychopathic, mass-murdering, schizophrenic clown with zero empathy ... I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." Prescription drugs didn't help, he said.

In the above, and in most descriptions of him, the Joker is described as a psychopath. As I've written in Foxes and Reptiles, Psychopathy and the Financial Meltdown, we seem to be in a time of awakening to the dangers of psychopathy. We've recently discovered that there are genetic differences in psychopaths and that they look different under functional MRI scans. Some evolutionary biologists consider psychopaths to be a subspecies. The 99% and the 1% has been criticized for its numerical inaccuracy as the elites are actually a small fraction of the 1%.  But this ratio may reflect an unconscious realization about psychopathy, as psychopaths are 1% of the population.  This 1% is disproportionally to be found concentrated in spheres of high finance and political power.  Amongst these 1% are the Jokers and Banes who drive the nightmare of history from which we are trying to awaken.

It looks like someone has done a thorough job of writing about most of the other cases of crossover movies -- The Omen, The Exorcist, The Crow and Poltergeist. Please read Cursed Films.

A case of  tragic  crossover effects not mentioned in the above article is the 1983 movie, The Twilight Zone.  According to Wikipedia: "The film garnered notoriety before its release for the tragic stunt helicopter crash which took the lives of Vic Morrow and two child actors, Myca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen, during the filming ..." Vic Morrow played the role of a man who represented dark threads in the collective American psyche. In the movie, he is taken through something like bardos where he experiences himself in the roles of people who were recent objects of his racism and hate speech.  The movie included a remake of the most haunting of Twilight Zones episodes, It's a Good Life, in which a mutant boy creates very unpleasant crossover effects out of his imagination. Perhaps the most dramatic crossover of my life happened on the day of the premier of this movie which I attended in NYC in 1983, but I have yet to write about it.

As a collective, we need to realize that the veil between the collective unconscious and the waking reality is always thinning and erupting.  Much of what we see in the phenomenal world is an eruption of psyche. Movies are crossover artifacts that stand between the imaginal plane, the dreamtime and the waking reality.  It should not surprise us that they are often crossover portals, reminding us that the firewall between the reality in which you read these words and other realities is a semi-permeable membrane.

Seeing the Shooter's Arraingment

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com I just saw the perpetrator at his arraignment on TV. He seemed disassociated and to be living in "the warp" a trance like place associated with the third eye where we go when we day dream or have visions. He will probably be diagnosed schizophrenic and is at the right age for a schizophrenic break. He did not look happy or defiant like Charlie Manson did when he was in court. It looked like part of his psyche was aware that he had done something horrifying. It's pure speculation, but I have a hunch that malevolent forces are sometimes able to possess neurologically vulnerable people. see http://www.zaporacle.com/mind-parasites-energy-parasites-and-vampires/ It is probably no coincidence that Marshal was studying neuroscience and writing about its effects on behavior. He probably knew that something was going wrong with himself and was seeking to understand his condition.

Black Sun Rising

Jonathan Zap, you have a very insightful and powerful mind. Don’t you sense that there are some vast, dark forces erupting everywhere in American society today, and that beneath all the phony PC propaganda an intense power struggle is underway which is about to get very ugly?

To me it feels like we are going to experience the 1960s in reverse, with the authorities being the PC controllers, and the radicals being mostly rightists of various stripes. I sense this in my own psyche, where I have experienced an eruption of what I call “Black Sun consciousness” and have begun to have visions of dark armies marching and new fuhrers rising amidst the flames of our failing liberal society. I have begun to reverse every value I was conditioned to believe, to ally myself with the dark side of everything and to feel pure disgust for the weakness and psychic shallowness of this wretched liberal regime. I literally want to raze it all to the ground, turn everyone to the dark side, begin building a new empire on the ruins, and I feel like I would be welcomed as a dark messiah if I did!

There is something so metaphysically profound at work, in the appearance of people like Hitler and Manson throughout history, who always manifest the Shadow amidst light side civilization’s inevitable lies. I feel like I could be next, and we all could be next, as we descend further into the Shadow world we try so desperately to escape.

Thank you for your excellent thoughts, and may the dark energy be with you...

Imagination and Mind

There are virtually endless ways to indoctrinate the mind above and beyond it's immediate organic sensibilities ... from basic story telling to the latest mech-tech "virtually anything but actual" representational projections.

As if the basic storylines of good and evil, love and violence, light - darkness etc. need to be told at all as there is always enough of such variety in actual life.

When will we ever "sober-up" beyond the inebriation of fantasy and fiction ... only when we find actual satisfaction in each others organic association.

We engineer a society away from organic interaction and wonder how we have lost control over the distinction between fantasy and fact.

Imagine if no one ever told you a story via any medium. Would you be bored, know less about good and evil {life} ... be less wise etc ... or would one just be so deeply steeped in actual immediate life necessity way beyond the imaginations ability to distract you that none of these associated topics would ever arise.

Humans are certainly capable of such deep and inherent satisfaction based only on their true-time direct conscious entrainment with their immediate organic-to-cosmic environment beyond any story that could ever be told.

One could even argue that our attachment to virtual representation is cent-per-cent to the degree we have lost the actual skill to inbibe truth from such direct conscious entrainment ... a modern malady for sure ... a gradual watering down of inherent viability with second-rate external representations ... habitual and demeaning even with the best intentions.

So, what would this story-less existance be like?

It's all well and good to talk about it, but how would it work?

If you meet up with a friend , what do you talk about?

From my experience stories are what the human world is made of.  True stories, made up stories, stories that don't seem to have decided where they are, etc. My personal favorite image is that reality is just one big story that never ends.

Couldn't Disagree More

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com Respectfully, Pippalayana, I could not disagree more. Hopefully, we will never "sober up" as you define it, which apparently means giving up all forms of story-telling! That would be a dystopian nightmare world I would certainly want to escape from. Stories are organic. One person described stories as "equipment for living." All cultures produce them. Often they are far superior to what you refer to as "organic situation." Compare the actual dialogue between people you may over hear with the quality of movie or story dialogue. The fictional version is usually far, far superior. One does not, nor does it need to, replace the other. Stories are not escapist inebriations but often penetrating visions of what's happening on the inner and outer plane. For example, the HBO series The Wire, is a story, but it has more to tell about what goes on behind the scenes in American society than stacks of nonfiction accounts and will also tell you more than if you just walked around the streets of Baltimore for a few hours (which would tell you things too, for sure, but not necessarily of what goes on in the inner workings of an urban police department or amongst the faculty of a public school). Encountering stories is an archetypal part of organic life and any life that doesn't include this core aspect of human culture is a deeply impoverished life.

Meaning

By organic situation I mean like talking with one another in the fields, in the marketplace, only discussing actual life necessity as it organically happens in real time ... God forbid free from fantasy and fiction ... why on earth do you think one makes up virtual stories but to make up for an unfulfilled actual life.

Most cannot conceive of the sheer joy in just relating to our basic existence because we removed ourselves from our own participation in our day-to-day survival due to the automation of the industrial age ... less and less in actual touch with the earth-cosmos, ourselves and each other in direct relation to our survival .. the only "actual" story there ever was.

So please don't insult my intelligence by pretending you don't know what I'm talking about, as every thinking person has some sense of this  ... the further removed we become from each others organic-to-cosmic conscious entrainment in direct proximity, the more phantasmagorical the stories tend to be.

This is not some moot ideology or philosophy but direct observation.  Just like children not wanting to put the joy stick to their fantasy worlds down for some actual living .. so it has become with all of our modernistic novelty story telling ... costing us in ways we simply refuse to acknowlege ...

Most of us modern humans cannot even conceive of a world without recorded image and sound.  Most of the social alienation felt is really only relative to the fantasy stories of how life should be .. the ones we constantly have to tell ourselves to make up for actual insight into organic fulfillment that only comes from a hands-on existence.

But hey, I'm not really trying to convince anyone beyond their own insightful sensibilities ... {the original comment was only meant as a side point and not to conflict the tragic nature of mass murder}

The ancient science of karma in all of it subtilties easily explains the synchronicities associated with our mind sets and our manifest sufferings ... you want to fantasize horror and dread in your stories than you get to taste the reality of how it is so ... no real mystery there ... as the ether {akasha} is very real ... what we dwell on to some degree will find manifestation.

if you really believe all life is but a story told ... well such will only be to the degree actual life is not being lived, otherwise who is listening and who is telling

Overstated

I couldn’t agree more with pippalayana who I think is not trying to rid stories but, reconnect a world so overly distracted by stories they forget the most important one, their own.  ''The Wire'' wont give you more information on your experience with Baltimore or Police inner workings then your own experience with the two.  In a story dense society like the one we live in, I too question the influence stories have over us.  Not because stories are bad, but integral and have brought us to this point in a sense, and which would not be a good argument for stories considering our situation. Time for a new fantasy involving ''you'' the individual a copartner with the rest of humanity in revealing a story worth telling

Crazy Story Insertion in People's Minds!!!

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com

I forget who said this, perhaps Terence McKenna:

"Culture was the firt virtual reality."

But what if I were to tell you that there is a scenario where there could be a much more frightening intrusion into peoples' minds of stories. What if, as if by implant, surreal, often violent, often aggressively irrational stories, were being beamed into people minds every day without their choice? Furthermore, what if people were so programmed that if they went more than 48 hours without accepting hours of such crazy stories being beamed into them that they would start to go crazy so they had not choice but to accept them for their whole lives? Often, these intense stories that are beamed into them won't even be remembered, but while they are happening people think that they are real and may be terrified. That would be the ultimate dystopian nightmare version of what you fear is going on right now.

Actually, it's already happening. It's been going on since there were humans, since there were hominids, since there were apes, since there were mammals. It's called the dreamtime, and it's a product of the organic world.

Stories - the flickering camp fire

We've been telling each other stories since forever. An evolutionary tool hardwired to allow us to rehearse the problems of life and solve them and learn from one another.

We used to sit around the community fire at night and hear and watch dramatisations - So now we understand the unavoidable appeal of the television set: flickering in the corner at the end of the day, and telling stories of humanity and how to face the dangers of life. (I think David Mammet said this in relation to drama)

The social as well as material dangers - so we learn from 'reality tv' how to be authentic enough to avoid group castigation, etc.

tv and movies - and even facebook and games, etc - they are the modern medium for the age old telling of myths and the analysis and sharing of very human interactions. Its how we're telling ourselves global stories for an emerging global consciousness

I agree that our real life interactions have a quality and beauty and meaning that should not be lost in the electronic age - but I also think there's a place for tv and movies, etc.

I love the movies and tv  :)

I agree

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com

Story telling is one of humanitiy's most primordial apps. Whatever media we can create that will allow for story telling will be used for story telling. Movies are as organic as beehives.  They are both structures manufactured by earth organisms. Organic does not have to mean organic chemistry (carbon based).  Nature, as Terence put it, created a techonology extruding primate.  Nothing is outside of nature.

Been thinking about this also

Thanks for sharing these thoughts Jonathan.. I couldn't help think of the eerie coincidence of Heath Ledger's death and now the shooting, which has not been mentioned anywhere in the media as of yet. I definitely felt some of the dark energy in this Batman trilogy as I'm sure others have, and would also offer another term 'spillover' (regarding 'crossover') - in the sense that these films picked and prodded at our collective unconscious nightmares past a 'maximum threshold capacity' to keep them captive, and they spilled over into reality. But I also wonder if you have any examples of the 'light side' - unconscious dreams and desires based on love, and higher states crossing over as well. Could the powerful cross-over phenomenon be something that we could harness consciously to improve our world at the level of psyche?

Positive Crossovers

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com There are many examples of positive crossovers. Most don't involve the paranormal but the spilling over of numinous memes. Star Trek has numerous examples of crossovers. For example, from Wikipedia: "Construction began on Enterprise on June 4, 1974.[2] Designated OV-101, it was originally planned to be named Constitution and unveiled on Constitution Day, September 17, 1976. A letter-writing campaign by Trekkies to President Gerald Ford asked that the orbiter be named after the Starship Enterprise, featured on the television show Star Trek. Although Ford did not mention the campaign, the president, saying he was "partial to the name" Enterprise, directed NASA officials to change the name." Star Trek crossed over in so many ways from smart phones and other gadgets that equalled or surpassed those we first saw on the show. It helped to promote the acceptance of a more multi-racial egalitarian society. In the Star Trek world money is an obsolete concept and I've noticed many writing on RS that would like to move in that direction. Similarly, much of the Sixties counter culture I believe to be crossovers from Lord of the Rings. Many fashions, Dungeons and Dragons, and an opposition to industrialization (one of Tolkien's strongest values), etc. Books could be written on positive crossover effects from movies and novels.

Hey Jonathan

Thank you for this timely article. I recently went to a Saturday morning, 8am Imax showing here in DC, and I was actually a little disappointed. I, like you, am a firm believer in the cross-over windows created by dark films. However, I don't feel this one was on par with the darkness of the last film. I felt it was under-acted, the plot seemed to hurry too much toward the end whereas it took its time during the first, say, 1:45 minutes, and I felt that the bad guy was nowhere near as psychopathic and terrifying (especiallyl not acted as well) as Heath Ledger's character.

It doesn't surprise me that the shooter was imitating the Joker and not the latest villian, and part of me wonders if he had even had the time to see the film himself. Do you know if he was influenced at all by the current film? Did I miss you covering this already?

At any rate--I was intrigued by the Uranus/Saturn mythologies present. An immortal sky god's son is cast down into the earth (but oh wait it's a daughter? it fell off for me at that twist...too half-baked)....and then the Saturn figure must rise up out of the earth to essentially become the advanced infusion of Saturn-Uranus (which in Astrology is the divine rebel, Aquarius). So it was interesting, but I don't think mythologically the threads and the story was internally consistent enough to command or channel too much energy.

To me, what made the second film so powerful, as a channel for many collective energies, was it's internal consistency (at least archetypally). I didn't feel it with this one, and while it was gritty it wasn't consistenly gritty--there was always a feeling of too much production interfering with the film's mythology striking a nerve. I feel this one will dull the collective senses rather than open....still I'm in total agreement that the last film could have served as the opener...either way, very excellent article, and I'd love to hear your thoughts/feedback!

peace brother--adam

Adam Elenbaas

Hey Adam

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com Some of your critique is fair and, I agree, this film is not quite as strong as the second one. Heath Ledger's Joker pushed it over the edge from competent cinema into the uncanny and held it together. Bane is visually ominous, definitely the best breath mask since Darth Vader, but the later twists undermine character momentum and depotentiate the archetypal menace. Still, I found it worth seeing and sometimes powerful. Clearly, the shooter had to have been inspired mostly by the second film, The Dark Knight. Unless I'm mistaken the shootings occurred very early in the premier showings of the film so unless he obtained a pirated advance copy he couldn't have known much about it except what could be gleaned from trailers, etc.

right

Right--that's what I thought. Agreed on best masked character--maybe I was just sad to not see more Heath Ledger caliber acting in this one. The last one blew my socks off. Anyway--excellent article--I'd love to see more film critiques on RS--I did one on the Tree of Life last summer... Adam Elenbaas

Well

Well written brother. This whole trickster thing is starting to get out of hand. I mean, hell, I'm a trickster who'll admit it, but I would never under my own will power deliberately murder innocent movie goers, or people for that matter, it is agaisnt my code because I know what happens to those who inflict such abysmal suffering on others. I think his adversary got the best of him, probably because he was, like you said, on anti-psych meds and his animal took advantage of the vulnerability. His ego desired to have a legacy that would be remembered, maybe he had a message and his violent ultimatum was this outburst. I agree that he was unfortunately being carried away by the current of the collective swell. There is so much distasteful violence in popular culture today, in the form of police brutality and military barbarism. I have as egoless of pity as one could have for people like this obviously ill young man who has built a good foundation for a personal hell to inhabit. God bless all involved, some day this will be resolved, and the scars healed. "in order for there to be order... there must first be disorder"

Thank you Zap

Hi there Jonathan, I definitely found your essay fascinating and deeply thought provoking... lots of things to consider on this subject, and reading both your article and this piece on Natural News has made it seem much deeper and more important of a story than just at surface level first glance.... Now I'm open to not only considering the psycho/spiritual aspects you're presenting here, but also the potential political plot involved... another false flag operation, like 9/11?? http://www.naturalnews.com/036536_james_holmes_shooting_false_flag.html

Interesting related article

Thanks Jonathon for another interesting, perseptive and though provoking article. I think that the 1% of psycopaths in the population is an issue that deserves a great deal more of attention. Here is a link to an article that might interest people http://vigilantcitizen.com/vigilantreport/was-the-batman-shooting-a-ritu...

I was with my lady friend

I was with my lady friend thursday night, we were going to see Batman, because I thought it was already in theatre's. But the only show was the 12AM, so we decided just to drink a little bit and go to the bar. At the bar I we went to there was a female server, I thought she was a transexual. Then my lady friend and I had an argument about that. We got home and cried and such. The next day it was raining.

So the 'crossover effects' must have been that my lady friend and I having a fight led to the deaths of people somewhere else by someone else's hand, because those are the 'crossover effects' right? Also I write ominous random shit on this website, and read allot on neuroscience, and I have had my hair dye red at some point in my life. Also I have been to a theatre thinking about neuroscience.

Therefore I must be at fault for the 'crossover effects'. Or maybe if we are being so random and speculative and assuming that the media is to blame and not the person heavily armoured with guns. But as long as we are jumping into random bullshit territory with Johns 'mind parasite' based pseudo-pop-psyche, we can probably just assume that the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) brainwashed this man into doing these heinous zombie like acts high on pharmaceutical drugs, as speculated by Alex Jones.

If these magic 'crossover' effects between media and causalogical circumstances are real, then so is CIA mind control isn't it? Its about the same level of logic there. But these speculations are mostly stupid infruiating fucking bullshit and its actually discounting the fact that this individual readily armed themselves and chose to go murder people. Whatever the role the media played in shaping his mind, he was obviously psychologically very weak and vulnerable to collapse under the weight of his own mental state.

John its like when I told you before about cannibal zombies and rivers of red fed by the blood of innocents stolen lives taken at random by gun carrying psychopaths created by the tumult of civilizations collapse. You need to remember that in the film also Batman (the dark, angry sociopathic loner) and Bruce Wayne ( the wealthy womanizing narcissist) goes into hiding for 7 years or some suchen after being blamed for the death of Harvey Dent (2-face).

We need to remember that heros wear masks as well, and not to run away pointing fingers and blaming words and films. Because if your that mentally fragile you are bound to snap anyways. Was Marylin Manson to blame for Columbine? Who is to blame for irradiated Iraqi children born with birth defects? Its the masked men with body armour and guns sent by their masters to do the killing that we forget is the root of the current cultural darkness which has descended.

11 years of war will desensitize a population, will make life something of less value than conveniences produced from invading other countries and butchering people everyday. But fuck them right? You don't see that unless you dig throgh the internet to know, and even then people don't want to be depressed and unhappy knowing the full extent of what their government is involved in as long as they get to go to the movies on the weekend and drink a few beers. The wars could go on forever, and generations would grow up playing Call of Duty and ready to kill just like in the video games with awesome high tech weaponry and a chain of command to ensure that everything is great until they get home with PTSD in a fucked up country where peaceful protests are met with armoued battalions of masked militarized police.

These are endemic problems and there wont be a solution as long as people choose to remain unaware of these things, as long as we jump around like flies trying to blame the movie or the book or the music. The individual is responsible for his/her own actions, mentally unstable or not, he pulled the trigger and took peoples lives and its really sad that these things go on. But life is always more powerful than death, and eventually we will turn it around collectively...just not today.

So blame the culture, blame the individual, blame the media, blame goes around, and the train keeps rolling down the tracks. Tragedy brings us together as people and unites us, it makes us realize that there is something wrong with our civilization, something that is sown into the fabric of the judeo-christain-islamic paradigm that seems to perpetuate a state of permanent warfare and indifference to it.

To a buddhist the idea of 'evil' and the 'devil' is ridiculous, because there is no evil, there are only extreme forms of ignorance, to think of someone or something as evil, is to empower that 'mind parasite' and give it life, is to put it beyond redemption. Thats why horror films perhaps have the power you seem to exalt in them, that of the living evil lurking in the peripheral zones of our subconscious, bringing it out, making it evil by choosing to incessantly think about it, and form it from the emptiness into a thing to behold and write articles about on Zaporacle.com.

Now im not saying that killing at random isn't 'evil' but I am saying that the forces of malevolence are created by the denial of our human nature, we have become separated from our selves through the digital incursion, we live in the air and not on the ground. Everyone is :) at all times, while emotive expression gets reduced and we become like automatons, imprisoned in some false digital realm that captures our passion and filters it through robotic reasoning.

An aware populace is concerned with health, food, and expanding/honing awareness of their human nature. Not suppressing it and pretending that electronic garbage is the way forward. The way forward is to reunite to our roots as human beings, to recognize that the consumer paradigm has failed us, that true happiness doesn't stem from external things, but from the love of friends and family in the interactional true sense, not in the CIA FaceBook surveillance state 1984 Orwellian nightmare 'crossover' effect that we see in full effect and that most people are in denial of. Reality is in the flesh, it happens now, a revolution of consciousness on the ground.

John when is the time for online road rage? Is it now? Do I have permission to be angry about things I cannot control? or does that make me some 'evil' person? psychopaths don't have empathy, they dont feel emotion, they are cold left brain reptilian calculators who see in terms of loss and gain, and power and control. Are you the authority who decides who is a 'mind parasite' and who is not? Words have no power to someone with autism, to a blind person, to a dyslexic. And yet they can sow a mythos that beats the heart of the world, all these fragile fictions made to make you cry.

Its disgusting that people go around making 'meme' out of the killer. Thats what happens with the internet, we get stuck here and the ground becomes untenable, the air is filled with all kinds of garbage from computer chair idiots who speculate about whatever stupid bullshit they choose (my self included)

The internet is some kind of social control, buts its so recent its difficult to tell if it will drive us all mad, or if we will begin to really use it for education and learning, to expand our knowledge and begin to integrate new concepts and understanding, in order to further our species development, instead of just posting innocuous repetitive shit (my self included)

Its important to recognize our species is in trouble, that we have to return to a grounded state of being. That we have to maintain our humanity and not be turned into fervent automatons that tweet every stupid notion that jumps into our heads, faster and faster, the manic pace of the interwebs sets up looking for the next desensitizing event, that we hope will awaken us from the nightmare of history.

There is a rise in people curious about nutrition and the health of their mental environments, about how to reconnect to our bodies, and maintain our sense of self and collective identity. The reason is that the internet and cell phones, and constant useless communication is unnatural and its fucking with our ability to percieve clearly, in emptiness. With our minds always cluttered by constant streams of information, with the overabundance of factoids and the dispersal of intuitive modes cast into some wayward place of uselessness- or so it is percieved by the technocrats- we displace our true mind for the electronic crap created for us by the corporate entities which seek to capture and drain our minds of their own self evolving powers.

The crossover effects of the media and the real are tangible, but its important to recognize that the power always remains in our own minds, and that no type of 'mind parasite' or CIA mind control, or drug, can hold a key to that true power which is innate from birth within.

I just sense we are loosing that, and as someone who has sharp and keen senses, that have been intentionally cultivated,  I trust my own perceptions better than those that shouted by little big men, or instilled through corporate media machines to make cash off of dulling and selling some shallow sense of self back to me. I have a problem with allot of things, I see the future isn't a happy place. I think its alienating, its filled with unnecessary digital noise pollution, and companies clamouring for advertising space in our minds.

Just look around and you will see people are ruder than they used to be, no one has the time, its like we are on speed, burried with our heads in some digital device, thinking we are 'connecting' and becoming closer, but really these thing are driving a wedge between us. This is why we need to bring the cultivation of our minds and bodies to the forefront of our conscious awareness, and give those things the proper dignity they are due. Because if those things are not the source of your minds joy and your bodies health, then you are filling your mind with illusory perceptions, and filling your body with neglect and toxic foods. Its time to be aware of these things, its time to dream awake and demand the world you want to live in, and take steps to create that world. This is what Occupy is about, its about a realization of the state of being we find ourselves in at this crossroads of civilization. We decide the future, it isn't decided in shadowy rooms by corporate monsters who decide what level of psychosis is acceptable to sell some pharmaceuticals or to what degree can they profit from toxic GMO foods. Or to what kind of violence they want to sell us to glorify real war and actual death, to glorify gun violence and killing like its a video game.

So sorry for the long reiterative post and its tangential vibrations oscillating into the digital machineworks. Our humanity is captive to this artificial mindspace, and the way out is to reconnect to our roots, to stay grounded, to value nature and life. Not to reduce is to clever if not witty childish meme's to circulate around our inability to confront the things that we choose not to see.

We will always return to that root, we will always be one with our planet, and eventually we will unite as a species and get past the dark ages of our souls. But its true the world is filled with villains, they are the ones in control, they are the ones shaping the agenda for the rest of us. Some random psycho who shoots up a theatre, however deranged he is, is not on par with those who sculpt the agenda of perpetual warfare and unleash death in countries you will never visit, on people you will never see, that you probably wont even know to care about or shed a tear over, every single day innocents die so we can live the cynical modern north american life, drive oil guzzling vehicles, and throw our fast food half eaten in the alleyway. 'Fuck it I am impatient and want convenience, and what sets me off is not getting what I want right when I fucking want it, I am america and so can you.'

I just dont believe that we would have come so far, just to rape the earth and satisfy some base desires and then kill each other for overcooked grains of rice while the earths crust cracks like a hollow egg shell. I just think we are destined for greater things, but as long as those who control power and media choose to shape us into dutiful consumers, manufacturing want and desire to fill our spirtual impoverishment, we will never be close to what is termed god, and we will always be filling that void with plastic crap, and noise instead of light. And thats the tragedy of technology, that as much as we gain from its rapid expansion, we lose our souls to it, and the machine has become us.

Touch is what makes us know love, is what binds us as humans, its important to feel another human being, wether its sexual or friendly, that is the most important thing, that is an act worth a thousand text messages from a smart phone. Thats what we are losing in ourselves to the barbarism of the technosphere. That is where the mass murderer lost his humanity, where that root disappeared and was replaced with cultic websites like 9gag.com to vent some crippled neurosis. Maybe if someone had introduced him to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, he would have awoken from his dazed psychotic trance and shown a new way of being and living in the world. Instead he spun his own derrangement into an electronic nightmare. Maybe if children were taught about awareness and health, and their bodies and minds at a young age, we would be able to catch those things in time. Because from what I understand the killer was also somewhat of genius, close to getting a PHD. Its sad that his mind became more machine than human and it was easily to imagine himself in a video game or in a movie. If our culture placed value before profit he would be a thriving person today, and those people would be alive perhaps. Or perhaps chaos is chaos, and its tragic and it occurs, and there is really no way to deal with it, and there will always be tragedy. But overcoming those things and moving forward is what life is about, because as we live today, we could die tommorow.

Our lives are missing something and we need to find it again. The vehicle of future culture o jiu jitsu.

Spiritual Warfare

What are the benefits of this shooting to the control class in a society suffering from a socioeconomic induced mass-psychosis? It increases fear in the breakdown of law and order (thus increasing the desire for a police state), increases suspicion of strangers, students, the unemployed, and non-conformists (thus further erroding our sense of community), increases the sense of chaos, anarchy, and societal collapse, it manipulates the population to support further gun-control thus leaving them vulnerable to more crime, murder, rape, and finally martial law, it supports the view that higher education and critical thought lead to pathological disorders, it persuades us that the psychopaths running our country must protect us from isolated psychopaths hidden in our society, and ultimately it shifts focus away from the crooks working behind the scenes to further manipulate our collective and individual psyche. On the other hand, as with 911, it may cause more people to question this fabricated nightmare and wake up. http://scottjsimon.com http://celestialmisfits.com

Thanks

That was therapeutic. I think I needed that. Especially if I'm going to see the movie. So many other articles in the mainstream media don't dare to analyze the situation like this. Though I may not agree with all of your conclusions, I appreciate this as an invitation to come to my own resolution at equal depth.

False Flags or False Flag Falsification Games?

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com We knew the false flag view was coming. Obviously there are lots of conspiracies out there, unfortunately the people who have the most to say about them, like the Health Ranger linked above, have major reality testing issues. The Health Ranger also said that the Gulf Oil Spill would kill all the marine life on the planet. And Alex Jones said there wasn't going to be a 2008 election and we would all be in FEMA camps and the few people walking the streets would be exchanging Amerios with the chips implanted in their hands and so forth. We need to start calling some of these fear porn types on their failed predictions. From what I've seen, listening to these guys for years, the mainstream corporate controlled media has more accurate predictions, and, for all the omissions, more accurate information. One of Alex Jone's people was on the radio Saturday night false flagging this shooting and talking about how it was supposed to make us willing to accept gun control. But neither Obama or Romney want to touch gun control with a ten foot pole. Did someone leave them out of the loop? Are they not part of the conspiracy? Then he said that the booby trapped apartment bombs "conveniently" didn't go off. Why was that convenient? For the purposes of his conspiracy, it would have been more scary if they did go off. If they went off, he would have said how did this neuroscience nerd know how to make such effective bombs? False Flag! Since they didn't go off, they "conveniently didn't go off" No matter which way things happen they always connect the dots back to their pet conspiracies. Here is one of my critiques of the poor reality testing that is becoming epidemic: http://www.zaporacle.com/reality-testing-is-politically-incorrect/

UN Gun Control Treaty

Guess it's just a convenient coincidence that a UN Gun Control Treaty is being completed this Friday July 27th, 2012

Btw, a concealed carry could have ended this Joker's ambitions before he ever fired a shot.

http://communities.washingtontimes.com/neighborhood/remnant/2012/jul/23/...

Gun Carry?

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com

So let's say someone in the darkened, smoke filled movie theater was carrying. They'd have to be an amazing shot to take on someone with automatic weapons and wearing body armor.

I'm not against citizens having guns and even concealed carry permits in some cases.  But assualt weapons with 100 shot magazines are not necessary to kill a deer, or defend your home from a burglar. Of course, if there were a zombie apocalypse I'd feel pretty stupid for being opposed to such crowd killing weapons.

Patterns of Shootings

If you can't take that shot, doesn't mean someone else can't. The Joker walked across the parking lot fully loaded, called his incognito and then banged on the emergency door to get him to open up. Plenty of time and chances to clock this guy. You'd be amazed at what you're capable of when your life is in danger.

Besides, concealed carry is a deterent. Would Joker have done the same in a theater full of CCWs? Probably would have moved on to the next gun free town instead.

Meanwhile the cops didn't show till it was too late. Remember, the criminals have plenty of guns and are completely unconcerned with the legality of it. Not to mention all the Homeland Security that views you as the potential enemy.

What we are talking about here is the right of lawful citizens to arm and defend themselves. De-arm the citizens and it's a free for all between the criminals inside and outside the government. Besides, it's a constitutional right for a reason, at least for now.

Random shootings happen even in heavily regulated and relatively gun free countries. Take Norway just last year. Same deal, cops were nowhere to be found till the bloodbath was all over.

There's a pattern to these shootings. Take a look:

False Information, False Flag

Anyone thinking this couldn't have been a false flag, and Holmes acted alone needs to watch this testimony:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzcE0V5jVJY

Whoa

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com

Whoa, he got a phone call during the movie, I can't think of any way that could happen without a New World Order Manchurian Cannidate scenario.  I'll bet it was Henry Kissinger on the other end of the line saying, (German accent): "Execute! Execute!." How does an ordinary citizen get a phone call when they're at the movies. He must have had some sort of in-the- black technology that allowed him to have some sort of wireless minature phone he could put in his pocket! In a country of 300 million how does one person go crazy like this? NWO puppet masters, that's how!

Holmes did not act alone

Conspiratorial histrionics aside, you're misunderstanding the point. Someone in the theatre got a phone call. They spoke on the phone to someone, then moved toward the exit. Then they let in the shooter through the fire exit, who was outfitted in gask mask and swat gear. The shooter would have been physically unable to enter through the fire exit without help, as it is sealed from the outside. If this is true, then all the police statements about the shooter acting alone are completely bullshit, and the story is likely much more complicated than we are being lead to believe.

DoD & CIA Funding of Hollywood Films

Zap, you may want to consider the crossover effects of cultural programming in fact going on in Hollywood films, but you are probably already well aware of it. Agendas are being enforced by the DoD and CIA. It's nothing you wouldn't learn about in college communications courses but check this out for a start http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2008/nov/14/thriller-ridley-scott

Thanks

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com

Excellent article, thanks Scott.

Did Murdoch buy RS?

This is disturbing.  Is Bill O'Reilly ghost-writing for Reality Sandwich?  You sneaky dog!  You tell that peon off, Bill-O!  How dare he form an objective opinion, based on numerous corroborating eyewitness testimonies, contrary to that of mainstream media!  He must be bat-shit crazy!  We all KNOW that the non-existent shadow gov't would never plan and execute a public shooting and blame it on a patsy lone shooter.  That's nut-job talk.  Squash that free thought!  Chastise him and challenge his sanity!  Make the idea sound so maniacal that all others will be too scared of being labeled as crazy themselves to do any research on the matter.

Whoa

Straw Man

Point is someone else was in on it with the Joker, got the call and opened the emergency exit for him. But you already know that, hint, hint.

Daruma Returns

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com Hey Daruma, Good to hear from you again. I was pleased to see that you have desurrealized your writing and made it easier to follow. Truthfully, when I first heard the news about the shooting, the first thought that flashed through my mind was---Daruma, this is Daruma's doing somehow---But I didn't feel it would be responsible for me to assert that in print. I'm glad I held back, because it looks like you admit as much. As they say in the intel community when Daruma cries, people die, when Daruma dyes (his hair) many people die.

Bane of my existence...

Very nicely written. Glad to see someone dare to suggest larger forces at work in all this. Clowns in general and The Joker in particular can have some bad energy it seems to me. As for the Bane connection I have yet to see anyone mention the bane of our existence. I have been working on a novel. A few days ago I invented a character who is an abusive alcoholic rodeo clown. The guy I portrayed happened to have real orange red hair. I did share what I had written with at least one person before all this went down.~Mike

Colorado Fires and Shooting Connection?

Does anyone get the feeling there may be a connection between the recent Colorado fires and this shooting? False flag or not, is there a diversion going on? Recent activity at the Denver airport and Colorado area military bases would suggest so. You heard it here first.

Hi, Scott

I was somewhat horrified by the heat wave, or waves, that were going on. I guess they still are in some areas. It really worried me as far as global warming, and then the disastrous fires on top of that. I feel as though there is a kind of awful overarching sense of armageddon from the heat waves, and fires, to this shooting, but I think this Holmes person was planning this way before the fires?

Wait and See

Guess we'll have to wait and see what Holmes motive was, there seems to be an attempt to keep that info quiet as the media spins it. What was an unemployeed grad student doing with $10,000 plus in SWAT gear and high-tech explosives and the knowledge to us it? Who let him into the theater through the emergency door? Why do some say there was a second shooter in the theater? Why was there recent scenes of theater shootings in movies and music videos? Why does Holmes appear drugged out of his mind in the court room, and without comment on the event? Why the timing with upcoming gun control legislation? Mind control techniques exist and are very real, it's being used on us through the media with anyone with eyes to see. Not to mention taking down the twin towers (a prime symbol of our economy) as a precursor to taking down the economy. The cabal worship this kind of dark energy and fear in the population, they get off on it. At the least, questioning all this seems worthwhile.

http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/illuminati_formula_mind_c...

How Does?

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com

How does a grad student get ten grand of gear? Credit cards and internet. College students get about two credit card offers a week. If you know you're going to die or go to jail for life, why not run up a couple of those credit cards and buy whatever you want online?  What's happened to reality testing? People see conspiracies in things that are easily explained.

Worshipping the Con

This should be easily verified if he indeed used cards or school loans to buy the gear and sophisticated black market bombs he supposedly used to booby trap his home. But this is only one of many oddities. Bury your head in the sand, worship the con, and pretend you are not their goat, or wake up. Start asking why you are so against even the possibility that something more intentional may be going on. The con has already been documented for those that care to see, besides the fact it's all happening right out in the open. For a summary of their agenda and the way out just watch this: http://vimeo.com/44583147

Cover

Your starting to sound like an operative. Don't lose your cover. Pick and choose your facts, but a society that creates Jokers is already a con.

So Zap you believe magic is

So Zap you believe magic is more real than a false flag conspiracy theory? Thats interesting. That shows who is failing the reality test doesn't it? Because you imagine these things pehaps they become real?? What if you stopped obsessively dabbling in the occult and testing your zaporacle for your Zapian cultic minions for a few minutes and cleared your mind of those things. Would you fall into a chasm lost because of your attachments to the notions of ghosts and magic phenomenon have come to be your belief system? Sure you think you are just experimenting with this occult nonsense, but I think you have given up 'reality testing' long ago in place of your half-cracked psychological theorems which are a fusion of Jungian psychology and Crowlian idioms.

Some kind of numeralogical rune reading astrological pseudo-religious paradigm to evoke whatever bullshit you want to cement in your mind as the truth about things. And then you look into an abyss or a chasm and all you can do is try to fill it with something to obscure the truth of that essence, trying to graph over a theory that reinforces your garbled metaphysic, of crank-pot jargon and bullshit.

Sure your trinkets are really cool and float around somewhere taking up your mental environment, poisoning that sacre space with objects and notions, with some kind of belief system you conjured up from your lifes experience or those early psychedelic trips that your probably marginalize as having little to do with whatever realizations or epiphanies you may or may not have had at some point or another in your life time. But really your are stuck in your own self reinforced bias which tediously balances on thin ground created out of your need for something to satisfy your urge to see the great pattern in things. And you end up with whatever theories you have...My not so humble opinion, they are not great theories because you want to grasp that something, you seem to seek this darkness and want to see it everywhere, and want to make it real, you want evil to live.

Its the Zarathustran delusion, the same dichotomy between good and evil, the division of the oneness into a duality so people like you can digest the universe, really sink your teeth in, eat its flesh, and drink its blood. But your not quite satisfied you want more of the same gun violence and explosions to enforce your fun new theories about media and special event tie ins! Its that shock n awe, those fireworks people want to see, makes them proud patriots doesnt it! I see why the Fast and Furious operation went so well, where the ATF shipped thousands of weapons freely into the hands of cartels and never tracked them. What kind of plan was it if not to produce gun violence and get people fucking killed. What a great scheme they must have had, what kind of reasoning, we wont ever get to know, just shallow news one offs on television and some show trials for those responsible. But really its Mexican's getting killed so you wont see it on the news so much will you? Though your nation is responsible for such a huge fuck up, and many more around the world, but as long as it puts a smile on your face and inspires you a nice article to write then your laughing hey?

But I would think there is much truth to our thoughts creating reality, thats why I try to meditate-maintain that center of awareness. It just seems to get filled with that noise you believe to be real. Being an occult psychologist you dont understand the value in that emptiness, you just want to grasp and hold that something, anything, as long as your not wondering through that darkness you so fear, because you never accepted it, you just filled it with gouls and goblins and Maurice Sendak monsters.

I have had some intense psychedelic experiences, but always I am able to bring my mind back into my body, and to clear it of whatever fantasy speculation is occuring, perhaps there are ghosts and peripheral entities seeking to enslave our minds, thats why having an empty mind is the grounded state for such things, is a skill, and an asset in most situations we confront through life. I suppose thats my ideology and nothing more, except what you choose to tease out of that upaya written to mock and deride what I percieve as your stupidity and ignorance.

But maybe there is allot of truth to your bullshit, and possible our thoughts create reality all around us, thats why empty thoughts are the best bet to being closest to the source of all things, instead of the clamouring for definite forms and solid ideas...We are talking about thoughts not about physical objects with mass and gravity so why would you try to impose that material boundary on something that is by nature immaterial? I dont not know why, but it seems commonplace in thinking, maybe just in the english language.

But I will try to make some aliens for us all to awe at with my awesome mind powers, or maybe the government could just put on a show with that 800 billion dollar defense budget. As long as the spectacle is there people will watch wont they. Thats what we have become, voyeurs and pop-psyche investigators, like parasites leeching from each other. No wont I am always trying to get away from this place. I think I have been leaving for over a year, but somehow the webs pull me back in and call me a spider.

But wait it wasn't about you or I anyhow, or about theories of why or how. Its about how its okay to be sad and pissed off when shit is fucked up all over the place and no one can give a decent answer why; and the trains continue rolling down the tracks.

You want something other than what is and so you will never know and thats all you'll ever know

Meaningful Coincidence

Synchronicity happens. I was a hard core reductionist at a very young age but many incidents of marked coincidence in my own life gradually broadened my mind. I believe in the bulk of science but have come to feel that it is too narrow and does not cover every aspect of reality. And that which does not fit in the narrow parameters of reductionism is dismissed. For the record I am not a long time fan of this columnist. I had never heard of him until a web search brought me to this article last night.~Mike.

Your Muse

Jonathan Zap of zaporacle.com

Well, Daruma, I'm always happy to be your muse somehow inspiring these long diatribes. Perhaps one day they will even relate to something I've written.

Not to be a total jerk here,

Not to be a total jerk here, but I wonder how often accidents/deaths occur around filmmaking in general. And how often the accidents/deaths in films that have nothing to do with the occult or darkness are handled more lightly and then forgotten by the general public, because of the lack of dramatic flare? Are we making these accidents/deaths that occur around occult/dark films bigger than they really are? Sorry, it's just that these "cursed" films always strike me as just part of our need to mythologize things, and not really part of anything truly "mystical". You know, for example, calling Brandon Lee's death part of his family curse, rather than just an unfortunate coincidence. I certainly believe strongly that not all coincidences are without meaning, but sometimes they are. Sometimes a "pipe is just a pipe". Also, the Joker is getting cut down on anarchist's forums, I've noticed. Mainly because he's violent and ultimately wants money; therefore still part of the capitalistic system, no matter how "anarchistic" he seems. Interesting to consider. But, really, great article that has me thinking differently about all this awful news lately... thanks!

movie accidents

It's a valid question I've asked myself too. Action movies are somewhat hazardous workplaces, though they also have state-of-the-art safety protocols and equipment. I don't know if anyone has done a statistical analysis. Obviously there is a subjective, qualitiative discernment that goes on in deciding what is coinicidence and what is synchronicity. One aspect of the present shooting that seems to cross the improbability threshold into synchronicity territory is that the same movie company, Warner Brothers, that produced Dark Knight Rises had trailers out in movie theaters concurrently for Gangster Squad which shows gangsters breaking through a movie screen and firing at the audience. I didn't realize the italicized part till yesterday evening, but it is the ultimate emblem of crossover effects.
