Art for Change

Playa del Fuego and Artomatic, two progressive institutions of the mid-Atlantic arts community, have joined forces to organize an elaborate party to celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama on January 20, 2009. The ticketed event is called The Art of Change and will be held on the 1000 block of 7th Street, NW in downtown Washington D.C.

The inauguration party will span 3 different venues and some of its features include multiple dance floors, live and DJed music, art galleries, fire and belly dancing, comedy, and spoken word poetry.  The event will begin at 8pm and run throughout the entire night.  Check the website for more details.

Playa del Fuego is an officially recognized Burning Man regional which gathers twice a year in the backwoods of Delaware. Artomatic is an artist-run organization that hosts a free, annual, month-long, art event in Washington DC. At their core, both organizations share the common themes of pro-active participation and radical self-expression.
